So far, it's terrific
I've had this heat gun only a couple of months, so time will tell how durable it is, but I've been quite happy with it so far. I bought it for crafts: dry embossing (I was holding papers over the heat of an oil lamp or stove burner--which does work, by the way--and trying to create other effects in crafts that require quick drying. But given that I can't find my blow dryer (which I haven't used for 20 years and have stored with my hardware and tools, given that it was more useful for home projects than for my hair) and needed to blow dry a litter of pups after a bath recently, I held this heat gun far from them, fluffing their fur with the other hand, and it did an admirable job. And if I ever should for whatever reason need to blow dry my own hair, I'll use this from a similar distance. So it's a lot more versatile for my needs than would be a hair dryer. It's easy to hold, easy to use, and I can imagine it coming in handy in any number of animal or home emergencies. But it has already come in handy in a variety of non-emergency situations, and I'm happy with it. Just have some common sense--be careful about distance from the object it's focused on, and don't use it continually for an extended time. Given the bargain price, I'm not expecting to ride it hard, so to speak, and I don't think higher expectations are reasonable. But it has never quit working for me so as to cool off, and I'm familiar enough with a wide variety of tools to know how to be respectful of them.

Economical space saving solution for small jobs
Compare what you can pay for other types of heat guns, and the sizes of other kinds of equipment. Realize too, that to get anything even smaller, you'd pay a premium because of the small size requires better engineering and materials. They could have made this a little more powerful and a little larger and it could still sell under $20 like this one. If they made it a lot bigger and a lot more powerful it could cost a lot more. Same power and smaller, would cost more. They struck a balance here - a small heat gun that works great on little jobs, doesn't take up much room, and is bargain priced. I'd be afraid to use a heating appliance that was cheaper than this. This is a great little tool, but you've got to expect it has its limitations. Works great for small shrink tube operations, reasonably quick without getting scary hot. It's going to be tedious to do large jobs with this, but it does what it is obviously designed to do - don't expect to get an amazing tool that delivers a $100 or $200 value. You get quite fairly what you pay for with this tool, I'm very pleased with it.

Great product! This is my 2nd purchase
This is the 2nd one I purchased. It works great. I have one in my electronics tool box and use it all the time to replace phone parts. I kept having to steal it from my electronics box for other uses so I purchased a 2nd gun for my wiring tool box. It works great for melting heatshrink on wire terminals. In the past I used butane lighters or matches to accomplish this. So much easier and safer with this heat gun. I also used it on a recent pneumatic air line install. I used it to gently heat the end of the PE air line to make easier to attach the air line to the barb fitting. In the past I would use a mug of boiling hot water to soak the airline in. This is faster, safer and more precise. I may buy another for my plumbing tool box!

Doesn't get very hot
Works good provided you have the room to turn the item you are installing the heat shrink tubing on. Having to drag an extension cord around is cumbersome. In a tight spot or on a wire installed or stapled to the structure you are only able to shrink the exposed side. A heat reflector would make this a much better tool. A battery operated version would make it a great tool.

Worked well enough for a while.
Worked well for a while. Heats up quickly and doesn’t blow too hard for what I need. I’ve had it for a little less than a year and I use it for my small resin business. Once I started doing larger pours/multiple pieces at once, the heat gun started overheating. I assume it’s a fail safe so the gun doesn’t melt itself; the heat gun turns off (I hear an audible click inside) for a while as it cools down. Problem is, it takes forever too cool off before it works again. Seeing as how my resin has a 30-45 min work time and I need the heat gun to work, it’s super inconvenient. I usually keep the heat gun on for max 3 minutes, turn it off for 5-10 and repeat. Seems to be getting worse each “overheat” time. It still works alright, just not well enough for a long while.

It looks really good. A little bigger than the picture (not pen ...
I got this heat gun to help replace the screen on a digiland tablet. yeah folks a cheap tablet..The heat gun got here at the specified time.It looks really good. A little bigger than the picture (not pen size). Very light weight. Feel cheaply made But the heat is impressive. Not blow dryer heat but hotter. hot enough to burn within seconds. In my opinion, for the price. very good product it did the job and more. I even used it to remove dried up tint off my Car's rear lights. For this price i strongly recommend. And no, I'm not getting paid for my review. i bought it own it and happy with it.Hope this review helps.

Cord is too short
This heat gun works fine , I've used it quite a few times for heat shrink and to remove stuck on heatsinks on CPUs . The problem is that the cord is so short I end up working on the ground every time I use it because it won't reach from the socket near the floor to the top of my workbench where , strangely enough , I like to work on things . The cord is exactly 34 inches long , not even 3 feet . That would be fine for a countertop kitchen appliance , for a handheld corded tool it's a joke . For comparison my electric drill has an 8 foot cord and my Dremel has a 6 foot cord .
