Nice enclosure - just need to be careful in a couple of areas
It's a pretty good enclosure. I used it with a leftover 32Gb SSD from a Dell 3050 upgrade. Comes with zero documentation and lots of spare screws. To open the housing you need to unscrew the two screws near the USB plug. BE CAREFUL. The threads on the screw holes in the housing strip really easily - as I found out the hard way on a screw on the opposite side. When you put the end plate back on keep in mind there is a tiny hole next to one of the screw holes. This is so you can see the activity light on the SSD. It's really easy to put it back together without this hole over the activity light, so be mindful.I'd buy it again. Took away one star for the lack of documentation and the easy-to-strip threads.

Good Enclosure, but not without issues
Bought this to clone a drive to upgrade a Dell 3050. Looks nice, with a sturdy build, and performed well. With that being said, there are a few issues that I had. First the screws on the back plate were screwed in way too tight. They were actually over tightened. I was able to remove one of the screws without an issue, but the second was so tight that I could not turn it with the screw driver provided. I tried using my screw driver I use for electronics, and that didn't work. The head ended up stripped. I had to DRILL the screw out. This of course means that now I only have one screw to hold the back plate in. The second issue I had was trying to reseat the circuit board. I had an issue where the USB connector would not go through the hole in the case. When seated the connector is just a hair offset from the hole. You have to apply a little downward pressure on the connector and it will slide through.

Solid all-metal build. Worked right away on Win7 64bit. Highly recommended !
Had a failure on a laptop having an M2-SSD Kingston 256GB drive, which I wanted to backup/remove my data before returning the laptop. This was truly plug-and-play. I just removed the 4 screws holding both side panels, put in the SSD drive and screwed it on the board, then connected it straight to an USB 3.0 port on my desktop, without even bothering to rescrew the two metal panels. It was recognized within seconds, and I was able to transfer data within minutes, at a rate close to 80MBps.This adapter worked flawlessly the first time on Windows 7 64bit, no fuss, no driver issue, IT JUST WORKED, just the way you expect ! The adapter is made of all metal including the two small panels, and comes with a bunch of screws and hardware for various SSD drives.I definitely recommend this adapter !

Heats up but portable and fast!
Works great with ZTC SSD 256gb.Fast data transfer speed for this little guy.only negative about this item is heat. This will heat up really quick especially upload/download the date. After the large movie transfer(24gb), laser thermometer reads 120 fI'm not sure it is safe for long term used but I never tried to left it connected overnight. As thumb drive replacement, cannot beat the portability of this.

Gets toasty, speed throttles to pointless levels
As a stopgap solution to get your m.2 SSD working as a portable USB drive, it works well enough. However, with my MyDigitalSSD m.2 128GB SSD (R/W measured ~ 450/390MBps) it got quite warm (50°C+) and never netted any speeds, read or write, above 60-70MBps. Whether that is because of a controller defect/limitation, or whether some component decides to throttle due to the temperature, or some other reason, I'm not sure - but it is a waste of the drive's available throughput bandwidth to use this as a permanent fast, pocketable drive. Overall, a dedicated USB drive - while not as fast or durable, would offer better value for that purpose.

Works well but be mindful of the screws
Worked well for imaging an SSD that was being replaced under warranty. The build is metal so it feels good and strong but the screws can be finicky. I will re-purpose it as a portable media drive when I get a larger SSD to replace my internal one.

Did what I want
Used with raspberry pi no problems works great

Four Stars
Only downside is the heat. Other than that, it works perfectly.
