Creative Teaching Press Math Minutes Book, Grade 6

When I first got this book in the mail, I thought I had received it by mistake. I did not read that I had bought “Used”. The first two pages had been completed but that was okay after realizing I had bought used. This is a wonderful review from 5th grade and then eases into 6th grade concepts. Perfect for bell ringer/warm-ups for 6th graders.

My son is 9 and I absolutely love this 6th grade book as a follow up to the “Math Minute 6-8th Grade” book we worked in last year. The later book helped me teach him the concepts and now with this 6th grade book, it is chuck full of random problems so I can see what he has absorbed. I let him do 10 pages a day as fast as he can. He averages 2.5 to 3.5 minutes per page; however, i get to see what mistakes he makes and what area I need to reinforce. Also it helps him become a close reader with attention to detail as each of the problems change ever so slightly. I love it. I ordered the math minute 7th and 8th grade books to complete this summer also. He will be in 4th grade next year and he is blasting these problems. Each problem helps you ask questions about a new area of math to learn. These are quick trigger books to see how quickly kids minds can flip from one concept to the next. It also fun trying to do these in 1 minute. He has never attained that but it’s a goal of his, if he has truly mastered the subjects. I highly recommend. Also during the school year, it’s great to blast a few pages of these out during breakfast before school.

I got this book for my son. He hates doing homework, and I've gotten summer workbooks in the past for him to do and he would never do them so they sat undone. So I figured he should be able to do a minute a day... And he's actually been doing the work without complaint! I was happily surprised. I would recommend this book.

My son used this over the summer to get a head start in 6th math. Each page is short and filled with a variety of problems. He did a great job and didn't mind taking a few minutes out of his day to stay current in math. Highly recommend.

I've used Math Minutes for years now, and I love the quick review it provides for my kids. They never complain about having to do them, the concepts are broad, and each page has a variety of skills for review. Perfect for the summer to keep those skills sharp.

Great for days with no homework. Each page is a series of problems, which run the wide variety of math problem types. I like the quick assignment so no complaining boy, and it is appropriate for 6th grade. My son struggles in some areas of math, and this small book helps me "diagnose" the types of problems which he needs help with. Problems that he has no clue about we work on, until he gets the concept.

I buy these math minutes books every summer for the grade that my child will be entering in the fall. It isn't much to ask a kid to do a few minutes of math, and it makes a big difference. Helps them keep caught up, and not lose any knowledge over the summer. Makes life easy for a busy mom.

I highly recommend Math Minutes series. These one page sets of 10-12 questions cover very important basic math skills and are a great tool to detect and correct any gaps a student may have. And yes, they can actually be completed in one minute! Some of the questions may not be adequate for Canadian, for example questions that reference illustrations with US dollars (where a student is asked to recognize from the picture the total amount of money) or questions related to conversions of imperial units (inches to feet etc) but these are not very frequent (maybe 1 questions on every 5th page or so).

I ordered a NEW book and it came damaged and had writing in it up to page 17 so could not use. Sent it back; disappointed.
