Perfect!!!!!
I love this machine!!!!!!! It blends everything so easily! I love the smoothie setting. I just dump all my ingredients in it, set to smoothie, and turn that baby on! 50 seconds later I’m done!!! Love it.

Nice update, but if you have an older model - keep it
I had a 15 year old (or maybe longer) model that has had extensive use over the years. These are truly a work horse of a machine. My wife used to use our old Vitamix at least twice per month for many years to grind up grain and flax seed for her dressage horse. This would tax any normal blender, but the Vitamix performed this effortlessly and without fail. I also used it to make very large batches of basil pesto at least twice per growing season - again with no issues. MOre recenlty, I've been using it approxiamtely 5 times per week to make pitchers of "healthy shakes" using various frozen fruits, ice and other ingrediants. There is a thermal protectin setting on the large industrial-type belnder motor that has begun ot "trip" as the blender heats up under the stress of use - generally after about 90 seconds. That's right on the cusp of the amount of time I need to make my healthy shakes, so sometimes it "trips" and shuts the motor down - and I have to wait a few minutes prior to it starting to work again. Because of the "forever" support Vitamix provides for their blenders, I could send it back to Vitamix, and for about $170 or so, they would completley recondition it and return it "like new".I saw the newest class of vitamix blenders at a cooking demonstration and was impressed with the updated look, the accessories and the "smart" integration of the blender to your smart phone and a Vitamix "smart scale" to follow recipes. I sprung for the new version and updated version.Likes/dislikes: The base to the blender has changed. While it's still very solid - it's a bit lighter than the old version. They now have a "low-profile" container that allows storage of the unit on a counter and UNDER a standard kitchen cabinet height. The old version was too high for this - so it's a nice option now to keep it our on the counter - especailly with some of the new colors. The 3-program preset program mode for me hasn't been useful. I've tried one of the three - designated to make smoothies - and it simply doesn't operate the machine nearly long enough to actually make a smoothie. I am simply back to my old method of operating it manually. The new machine - while still quite loud - is much quieter than the previous model when operated at top speed. The new container system accessories are somewhat useful. I also purchased the smaller containers that use a different cutting base for very small jobs (works good) and for single serve smoothies (works okay - hard to get everything down to the actual blades in the smaller container without a "push stick" - so I continue to use the larger container)I haven't used the iPhone app that links to and controls the vitamix yet, but it looks promising as you explore new recipes. In retrospect - for what I am doing right now (which isn't the entire capability of the new system), there isn't much functional advantage over my older model. "If it's not broke - don't fix it"wasn't quite the choice, since I'd have had to have my old vitamix reconditioned, but not a lot of functional improvement for me personally at this stage. It's definitely much more modern looking, aesthetically pleasing and new features that I have yet to explore.

Best electronics purchase next to my first iPod
Love this thing! Easy to use. Easy to clean. I mainly make fruit and vegetable smoothies. I mostly use speed 8 (texture thing) and it blends without an issue. I rarely use the highest setting (only when making almond milk). Great machine with a good amount of power.

Best thing we have ever bougth, beside our cordless dyson.
This is the best thing we have ever bought! We use it every day for smoothies, and a ton to make dinners. Best broccoli cheese soup and I didn't have to heat it. Also great for hot chocolate, just made that the other night. Great would suggest it to anyone!

Disappointed
Though I have used a Vita mix for years, I needed a new one. I did not see where it was a reconditioned one. When it arrived there was no manual with it. I could not figure out how to turn it on or operate it. I called Vita mix. I am not sure I like it, and it seems flimsier than the old one.
