Great stories! New to me concepts. Very creative.
I'm a big dystopian geek. I am really loving the short stories in this book. Most of them are short enough for me to read one or two before I go to bed, with a couple being a bit longer. Wonderful variety with some really creative plots that I have never heard before. Definitely recommend it for anyone who likes dystopian stories.

Excellent Selection but with More than a Few Typos
This is a great anthology that really delivers a range of examples of dystopian fiction—all of which are literary. Unfortunately, the editing is not as tight as it could be, and there frequent typos, to the point of being distracting at times.

Great book - came damaged
I love all the stories and authors that are featured in this book. The book did arrive looking used and damaged, however.

Comprehensive overview of the genre
An excellent collection of stories that takes it start with Shirley Jackson's, "The Lottery" (a piece of the high school canon that many will recognize) and moves through a wide, dark landscape of stories. Each story comes with some basic introductory material about the author and the context of the work. The collection is framed by a Adams' introduction at the front end and a bibliography of further readings ("Notable Dytopias") by Ross Lockhart.I appreciated the minimal commentary and the scope of the collection. As a fan of dark science fiction, I loved the variety and volume of stories. As a teacher, I think the collection would make for an excellent reader for a genre studies course.

Dark tales from new writers and old masters
Brave New Worlds is a great anthology with a theme: dystopian stories. Dystopian is the opposite of utopian, so many of these tales are dark, bleak, and chilling. They are also very good, and some are classics in the science fiction genre. What I really loved about this book was that it mixes new and old writers, and brings some fantastic stories from writers I’d never heard of, as well as some of the masters of the genre. There’s also a nice intro for each story, introducing the story and the author, and I found that both interesting and helpful.

Great mind melters
As an English teacher, I find that students relate more to empathy when I use dystopian stories. This is perfect! The pedestrian is a great short with a lot of it left to reader interpretation. There’s even a comic short that is LGBTQ+ friendly- which is a great way to foster empathetic conversation.
