Shark ION P50 - IC162, Lightweight Cordless Upright Vacuum with HEPA Filter, Handheld Vacuum Mode, and DuoClean for Carpet and Hardfloor Cleaning

I was very nervous about buying a vacuum through Amazon. After a ton of research and reading reviews I decided on the Shark ION because I wanted something low profile, cordless, and with decent power. I don't regret this decision one bit! Here are the pros & cons:ProsCordless and lightweight it doesn't take up much room at all. The roller is active both on floor & carpet mode which I love. The front roller is coated in a velvet-like material which does two things - it allows for a smoother glide on hardwood without that grating sound, and it attracts pet hair better than a standard plastic roller with bristles. We have a dog that sheds all year long and this vacuum has been holding up to my daily abuse. The dirt canister is small and fills up quickly but it's easy to empty. Just recently I decided to clean out the rollers since I know I had hair and string wrapped around it. New favorite feature I found: the roller is detachable with the simple press of a button and this made cleaning super easy. 5 minutes or less with no hassle and I didn't need to bust out the scissors to cut hair or string away.The cordless option has made this a great option for vacuuming the car.ConsI live in a 300sq ft studio so battery charge is not an issue for me, I can usually get 3 full vacuum sessions out of a charge. So if you are planning on using this in a real house you might only be able to do a few rooms at a time. It has a button for extra suction power which works great, but the downside is you have to keep pressure on the button while you're using it. I use this feature when I'm vacuuming our rug and I do get tired of holding the button down but even the Dyson cordless vacuum has this same drawback - likely to conserve battery power. the only other thing I wish this had was an attachment with a wider head for vacuuming a couch. The only attachment it came with is your standard slim hose to get in cracks etc.All in all I would highly recommend this if you are looking for cordless and you have pets.

I’m actually waiting for this to be too good to be true. Lots of reviewers commented on parts breaking down the road, and honestly that is the ONLY thing I can envision being wrong with this thing. I love it!!Has so many great extensions that really get the pet hair up. It is easy to use/disconnect/reconnect the parts. If you want to carry it around your house with the handheld tool, easy. Or if you want to push it around the floors, it glides. The battery easily comes out of the unit and can be charged on the countertop with a suctioned dock 😍. The construction of it is lightweight, but sturdy. It doesn’t have a totally cheap, plastic-ey feel. If you were to go banging this into walls/furniture in a hurry, I will say it is lightweight enough it has potential to break. But take care of the things you love and they will take care of you.The suction is wonderful. It goes seamlessly between our hardwood and carpet. It even has these sweet buttons right on the handle to toggle between them, and you can feel the BOOST function suction the roller to the floor. I’m impressed. Very pleased.Will update if anything breaks or goes wrong.

I’ve had this vacuum for a couple weeks now and I love it more than I thought. I’ve always been hesitant to go cordless because I though the suction wouldn’t be as good but that’s not the case here, it works great and when the battery dies it just shuts off, no loss of suction. I love that it has a battery life indicator light too the only thing is that if you have a bigger home you may want to get an extra battery if you plan on vacuuming the whole house in one go. Now it also advertised that it’s a tangle-free roller, which is true for the front soft brush but the back brush still gets hair wrapped around it but it’s fairly easy to clean so it’s not that big of a deal. I love that the canister comes off and I can easily vacuum under beds and couch because with a toddler crumbs find there way in every place possible. I just used the upholstery attachment the other day and it worked great to get some short dog hairs off of a mattress. It’s really easy to empty and it has labels all over so you know what each button does, and the headlights on this this are amazing I never knew I needed it but wow! You don’t even realize how much crap is on the floor until you can actually see it, sometimes I even forget to turn the light on in a room because the light from the vacuum is enough. One thing that this vacuum doesn’t work well for is I have a long shag type rug in one room and the censors always get tripped and it shuts off the rollers. I think my favorite things about this vacuum is 1.) not having to change the attachment to go from tile to carpet a 2.) not having to drag around a cord and 3.) it stands up on it’s own, my Shark rocket did not and I was always having to lean it up against the walls and change out the outlet and floor attachments. Overall very satisfied with my purchase.
