I Could Chew on This: And Other Poems by Dogs

I could chew on this
This is so cute! It’s poems and thoughts of what our dogs are supposedly thinking. I don’t know how many of them I was like, “Oh that’s Minnie!, or Mollie, or OMG that’s Max!”. I definitely recommend to just put a smile on your face!

Cute.
Cute and funny. I think one of our dogs helped write it :-)

Pretty good
Though it may not be as funny as its kitty cat counterparts, it does have some very intriguing and thought provoking subject matter. If it's not humorous enough for you, try reading it to your mother in a poorly executed British accent between gasping and guffawing at the next line of text. :)

Really???
I guess I will be the first person to say how sorry I am that I spent money on this book. If you have read any of my other reviews, you will know that I rarely write negative reviews, as I am very open-minded and I realize that everyone has different tastes, so I try to keep things objective and helpful. Now, I am not a just bashing a "dog book". My wife and I love our dog and love cute dog books, such as Sorry I Pooped in Your Shoe (and Other Heartwarming Letters from Doggie) (please see my review of that book). Unfortunately this "Chew on This" book is nothing more than a bunch of random sentences to play on the hearts of only dog owners who have distorted perceptions about the "value" of their dogs in the scheme of life. Other than that, this collection of non-thought provoking sentences provides no entertainment value whatsoever (the world yawns). My wife and I love our dogs, but we dont buy outfits for them, let them drink out of our coffee cups while they sit in our laps, and treat them better than our children, or one another. You know the kind I am speaking of. Those are the folks who will love this book. The fact that this book is a best seller on any literary ranking list is a sad commentary on what folks find appealing in this day and age. However, I also imagine that "reality" TV fans will like this book. The only reason that I didn't give this 1 star is because Marciuliano is at least successful enough to get such a book published - that feat in itself is worthy of 5 stars. As for his publshing company's creative decision to print this book . . . 0 stars. I am sure all of this explains why we think this book is a waste of trees.

I smiled, I laughed, my spirits were lifted.
I love a good dog book and by good I mean one that doesn't make me cry. This fit the bill perfectly. My favorite poems were definitely the ones involving separation anxiety and not getting doggy dinner served on time. I can so relate.Anyway, this cute little book would make a great gift for both dog lovers and friends and family who think us dog owners have gone off the deep end (really surprise them and get your dog to autograph it for them). It offers great insight into the canine mind and some adorable doggy pics too. Now I'm hooked on dog poetry! I think I'll read "Throw The Damn Ball" next. I can always use a good laugh.

For anyone who has ever loved a dog
I found the book to have a slow start but half way through, I was laughing out loud and shaking my head "yes", in relating some of the antics in the book to experiences that I have had with my beloved dogs, present and past. The book is light reading, the accompanying photos are very much a plus. Although this book has lots of laughs, it also gives insight and food for thought. The poem "Just a Head's Up" is a perfect example. It goes: " Every time man forces one dog to fight another dog God moves one step closer to handing the world over to the roaches." That one really hit home, living in North Florida where dog fighting is, indeed, "illegal" but somehow seems to slip by anyway. It's a shame that those responsible, probably, will not be reading this book. Well, maybe, someday the reaches will learn to read.....

Cute Book!
Very cute, but you really need to understand dogs to get the most out of this book.

Great for a small gift
Wonderful little book. My husband and I have two dogs- one of which chews on EVERYTHING. I thought this would make a great little extra something for Christmas, and I was right. We both love the poems inside. Super cute and funny.

Gorgeous, Funny and a Great Gift!
This is a really nicely produced little book. Printed on excellent quality paper with gorgeous pictures, it is so amusing and a great gift for any dog lover. The poems are very clever and just the sort of thing our clever canines would write if they could!

Funny, heartwarming and very entertaining
I bought this book for a dog-owning friend of mine for Christmas and it was hugely well received! I had a quick read of some of the poems and they were so delightful that I'm planning on getting a copy for myself. Funny, heartwarming and very entertaining. Highly recommended for all dog lovers.

What We Do. . . . . In Their Opinion
Whats not to love. Its a book about dogs. The things we do daily with and for out beloved pooches but through their eyes. Puts a nice slant on things and is an interesting read for any owner or a good quirky gift.

Hilarious and sublime
A beautiful book with a good cover, the pages themselves are of quality but then the poems, well, just read the headline! Oh and delivered the next day too.
