I really enjoyed this project
I bought this kit to make as I waited for my baby to arrive. We are doing a safari themed nursery. I really enjoyed this project, though it did take me about 3 or so months. The only change I made was putting his first and middle name and birthdate in the middle box, instead of first name, birth weight and birth date. If he had been a girl, I was going to replace the blue border and the blues in the middle box with shades of purple, and that would have been enough to make it more feminine. The nice thing about this project is the large chunks of the same color, so you don't have to do four stitches and switch to another color, like other patterns I have done. It's a good project for someone who has done one or two other cross stitches, but wants something relatively basic. All of the stitches are regular cross stitches or back stitches. My only complaint is that the graph was hard to read for the back stitches. Other than that, I appreciated the pre-organized floss, the different colors on the chart, and the relative simplicity of the design.

Another great Dimensions kit!
This is my 5th Dimensions birth record and I have to say, I love these kits. They provide more than enough floss, and it's pre-sorted. The directions and graph are very clear and easy to follow. I am not going to stitch all the detail in this one as my grandson is due in a couple of weeks and I am not finished yet. A couple of hints: Wash the Aida cloth, let it dry, and then iron it before you start stitching. It will make the cloth more supple and easier to work with, especially if you want to class it up and use half and partial stitches. Which leads to the second hint: Outline the animals and leaves first, then fill in with partial stitching where needed to follow the contours. It will give you a much cleaner look than stitching whole stitches and then just outlining over them. It may take you a little more time, but trust me, it is well worth it.

Very fun project!
I finished both of these for my twin grand-nephews during this COVID quarantine. I love the results! I found the pattern very easy to use; blocks of the same color make for fast stitching. A lot of back stitching which can be tedious but worth it. It’s a fairly large project so it’s not for the beginner, in my opinion. The colors are bright and cheerful, perfect for a baby’s room. I really enjoyed working on this.

Perfect "Easy but Good Looking" Gift Idea
I bought this to make as a present for a friend for her upcoming baby, and I'm really pleased thus far with the quality and ease of the product. The pattern is straight forward and easy to follow, but still complex enough that I feel like I'm getting a challenge while creating something that looks good enough to be placed on someone's wall. I don't consider myself by any means an expert at cross-stitch, but this feels like a good challenge for anyone around the easy-intermediate skill level. The only qualm I would bring is that the thread itself can sometimes loop and knot around itself, but watching the stitching and allowing the thread to unravel when needed is a pretty easy fix to this problem. Beyond this, a great vote on my end for a quality product!

Easy pattern, you do not need to be an expert for this one.
This pattern is actually very easy because there is no color gradations, only solid blocks of each color. Because I didn't have to think or count very carefully it was easy to do while watching TV or having a conversation, and it didn't take me as long as I thought it would. What I didn't like about large color blocks is that I can see definite lines on my rows, it's harder to get a really even stitch. I did have to make a couple very small adjustments to the pattern, such as the blue checkered square in the center is missing one row on the bottom side, so I added that, as well as lines in a few places in the monkey's background weren't drawn in so I added those to have consistent squares. Overall it's as cute as the picture, but maybe the colors are just slightly less vibrant than the picture implies.

Basic Stitches, Low-Quality Floss
With the number of cross-stitch patterns available ever-declining, I went with this design recently for my nephew's birth. While it is a cute pattern itself, the pattern is on several pages, the coding of the flosses is at best mediocre, and the floss itself is the worst quality floss I have ever worked with. I've never had floss fray at the ends while I was working with it (occasionally on a tie-off, sure). This floss frays every single strand, making it difficult to finish without it tangling into the next strand. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone based on the floss alone. I purchased another birth record from the same company ( Dimensions Needlecrafts Counted Cross Stitch, Little Pond Birth Record ), and I'm seriously considering taking the included flosses to Michael's and finding comparable DMC flosses instead. As a side note, all the stitches are basic, without half-stitches for rounded edges, so I'm hesitant on how it will ultimately look.

Fun, adorable pattern
I have several Dimensions kits and haven't ever had a bad experience; this one is no exception! This is for my future nephew and is perfect for his Africa-animal-themed baby room. Some of these reviews reference how "knotty" the thread can be - if you have that problem, the thread should probably be cut shorter. These threads are presorted and are over a foot long if you cut them at the top. (Personally, I enjoy kits with un-sorted threads so that I can organize and cut them to my liking.)The only 'surprise' on this kit was the size. I saw it was 12x12 before I ordered it, but didn't really think about how big that would be. Be prepared with a big hoop!

Absolutely gorgeous :)
I have bought this a a gift (when it is finished of course) for my new grandson. It is a fab pattern, but was a little daunted when I saw that there was no guidance on the fabric. Once I got started I realised how easy to follow this pattern is. I have not tried cross stitch on this scale before and have not done any sewing for a lot of years so this feels very brave :). Both my daughter and my son have requested hand mad things from me that I haven't done for over 20 years and I must say I am loving getting back into my craft side. This product came very quickly and I only. Had to buy a frame to get started. Give it a go it is very relaxing to do.

Quite challenging but charming result
I haven't finished this yet, as it's taking a little longer than anticipated. It looks like a really simple design, but if you are a complete novice like me, it's quite ambitious. The instructions maybe leave a little to be desired, and a couple of markers on the actual fabric would have been helpful. (I have made a couple of mistakes through miscounting, but they have been concealable with a bit of careful thinking) It will all be worth it though, as I can see it is taking shape and will make a bold, bright and beautiful addition to my nephew's safari themed nursery.

It's OK, colourful but colour coding could be better.
Nice baby record but instructions (colour codes) could be clearer. This is quite a large finished item and my wife is finding it slow to complete.

Animal cross stitch
Made this cross stitch for my first grandchild now making it again for the second grandchild. It’s a lovely easy to make cross stitch looks beautiful when it’s framed.

baby hugs x stitch
This item was exactly what I was looking for with only a few months until my friend is due I wanted to make something special and could be kept. This was ideal, threads already separated, which is always a great help! And the pattern easy and big enough to follow. Id recommend this to any x stitch starter.
