Sounds decent, noise cancellation not available in wired mode
I bought these mainly to use for watching in-flight movies and for work. I specifically chose this product because of its dual functionality as both a wireless earbud set with a plug in feature. This would allow me to use them at work, where I need to physically plug them in to a radio, and would also give me a wireless option when using my phone/tablet. The problem is that when using the physical jack, the earbuds are completely inoperable. The noise cancellation does not not work, and if you try to turn it on, it actually mutes any signal coming in on the cord. I looked in the product manual, and it does state this once you get most of the way through. However, why is this not mentioned in any reviews? This was disappointing to me, as i wanted a set of earbuds that could function with noise cancellation in both wireless in wireless applications. They advertise this as some type of feature, but why would I pay this much for earbuds that just act like a cheap set of plug in earbuds when in wired mode? Since I mostly use wired mode for most of my devices, I will be returning this product. As for sound quality, I thought they sounded pretty decent for the price range. The mids could be a little clearer, but I think the bass came through just fine. The noise cancellation also works well for low frequency droning noises, but it will not cancel out voices or higher frequency noise. There is a slight high fequency whine that you can hear while noise cancellation is active and no sound is coming in, but the threshold is too low for you to hear it over any music you would be playing.

Strong potential but very disappointed
I bought this product based on reviews from many sites saying it was an affordable noise cancelling wireless headphone that could rival Bose products. I was particularly drawn to the smart sensor feature which turns off the headphone when the buds are brought together via magnets. However the smart sensors broke after 4 days of use and I was unable to get them to work again after communicating with Plantronics customer support. In addition the ear buds are quite uncomfortable in the ear. I replaced the silicone tips Plantronics provided with some old Bose tips but they do not stay on the buds very well and fall off easily, although they were more comfortable.Noise cancellation was fine and the wireless paired easily with devices. However the batter life is pretty weak.Would not recommend this product for someone looking at a durable everyday headphone.

Almost Perfect !
I am a expert of Bluetooth headphones, I own almost a hundred BT phones of all kinds. Here are my point of short review. I help you try before you buy.Pro:Potable size, stable Bluetooth connection, long Bluetooth rang, good sound quality, comfortable wearing, multiple connections, quick charge, magnet earbuds, 3.5mm audio jack.Con:ANC not come close to Bose, phone call at noise environment is painful, eight hours battery life seems not promised, 2 seconds of audio lags at initiation play sound.Suggestions:Get the Bose QC30 ear tips from Bose website, it only cost $10 with free delivery, it fit this headset perfectly and it will greatly increase the stability and comfort and seal more noise out makes ANC much better.

A very poor earphone
Unfortunately, I have to edit my review, changing it drastically. After only a few months using it, it went down today for good. It does not work anymore. I was using it and suddenly I hear a strong shhhhh and nothing else. Please, avoid it.Previously it was: One of the best earphones I have ever had. The noise cancellation is not that good. The price is ok.

Big issue with the buttons!!
Initially, I was very happy with the headset. Noise canceling is pretty good, especially on my morning train ride. Battery life is close to 8 hours for me even with ANC at the high setting.First issue: Now at just about 5 months the power button cover is ripped open and I can't always find the button to turn it on/off or start/stop playback. (Device was returned and replaced by Plantronics at my cost for postage to them)Second issue: At 7 months the buttons of the replacement started to tear again, at least the buttons kept working this time. The headset has been returned a second time, again at my cost to Plantronics.Third issue: It took 10 months this time, but the buttons and button cover are problems again. This will be the third and final time I'm returning this headset to Plantronics. I've asked for a refund, but am not holding my breathOnly positive is that the warranty period resets with the new headset. Since the buttons will likely keep tearing at least I'll get a new one every few months for the cost of return shipping. This is the most money I've ever spent on a Bluetooth headset and I expected a lot better than this from a company like Plantronics. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed and don't think I'll buy another Plantronics device.

Really nice headphones, but quirky fit
It might not be fair to give 3 stars to in-ear monitors due to fit since everyone's ears are a little different, but since there is really no easy option for consumers to get a good fit I think it's the right rating. Although it comes with three sizes of ear tips, they were slippery and didn't stay in place even sitting still. The tips fit over a very large tube and the stretches onto a tab that holds it in place (bad description I know). The net result is that the Plantronics won't accept ear tips the fit most headphones. I did find Comply Foam tips that would fit over the large aperture, and they work pretty well, but still not ideal. I'd like to see them include not only different sizes, but supply foam or a more sticky silicon tips as an option. That said, once I got them to fit and stay in my ears the performance of the headphones is excellent. The noise cancelling is so effective that it almost silences my riding mower when I'm on it. Sound quality is very, very good, and battery life is excellent. Take a moment to download the app so you can adjust the amount of noise cancelling you would like, and manage your bluetooth connected devices.

Great until they completely stopped working, one feature at a time
I really loved these headphones, for almost 1 year. Then one by one, every feature stopped working. Designed to fail at a certain usage time, maybe? I certainly used them a lot (mostly while cooking or working at home, during the coronavirus quarantine). After almost a year of use, within about 2 weeks they turned into garbage, with the following list of failures:- Left earbud not working- Volume would go up/down on its own- Speaker in right earbud would not say all the normal audio cues (connected, etc); would only say some of them- Bluetooth no longer connecting to my phone (this was the nail in the coffin, obviously)It's a shame, because otherwise I really liked them...

Reliable product and amazing service
Have been using the backbone 410 for 6-7 months for casual calls and exercise. The plugs fit nicely in the ear, with enough passive/ active noise cancellation to enjoy the music but at the same time not totally blocking out the traffic noise (which I prefer for safety purposes). Sound quality is good enough for this price, decent trebles and an acceptable base when listening to YouTube/ internet radio. More importantly the connection is consistent. I can leave the phone in the living room and stay connected around the house. So far no one has complained about sound quality when on the call. I can hear the other person on the line clearly as well.Cons- the neck band design can be better. It’s an awkward design where the wire extends out from the end of the band to the earplugs. Also ran into battery issue on the 7th month but Amazon sent a replacement immediately, pretty impressive!Overall- Packs a punch of goodies for a $100-150 earpiece!
