It doesn't work - no support
This item doesn't work. Github pull requests with fixes for their code and docs sit around for months. The forums never seem to post anything. The module does respond to it's i2c address, but then only produces the number 2 as data, and responds to no other messages. Not as documented. The listing has since been changed - this listing was titled "SunFounder Line Tracking Sensor Infrared IR Detection I2C 5-Channel Line Follower Module for Raspberry Pi Arduino Smart Car Robot Robotics MCU ATMEGA328P TCRT5000 " - changing to a different item like that seems dishonest to me.

Better know something about i2c with Arduino
Manufacturer"s data sheet is very inadequate. Results can be printed out initially but using the data and getting it into the Arduino code is ignored. I2c knowledge is critical otherwise you will be spending a lot of time learning about i2c communication.3 stars because once communication is established and Wire.read values are assigned to variables, it works. It provides an analog value, which can provide better control, rather than a 1 or 0. Module needs to be placed about 1/8 inch above line for best resolution.
