Best stitching pony for the money
This has by far been the best stitching pony I've ever used.Easily adjustable for even 3 layers of 9 oz leather.Makes easy work of holding the pieces together.I really like the padded jaws for not marring tooled surfaces (a concern I had from previous experiences).Happy with this item and look forward to getting many years of use from it.

A Perfect 3rd Hand!
Why didn't I get one of these sooner?!? I have already stitched two projects using this and I am amazed at how much easier and faster it is to work with this acting as my 3rd hand!It came with very clear directions for assembly and was very easy to put together. The lever mechanism is wonderful for quick release and adjustments during stitching. It seems very sturdy. The wood is smooth and finished.I chose this stitching pony over other slightly less expensive models because this one came with the clamp already covered with leather. The extras are nice, too!

A good deal, but be ready
I got this pony because it's the cheapest I could find anywhere, and it works well but be prepared for the quality to not be particularly high. Mine came with a few minor cracks that I glued together and mostly rough edges that needed a few minutes with 220 grit sandpaper. So, if you are looking for something that is a good deal but may require a few minutes of work, you are in the right place.

Well packaged, clear instructions
It just arrived today. I've just barely got it put together so I've not gotten any use out of it. Once I do I will update review accordingly.I will say this... I work just as hard to earn my dollar as you do yours and when I choose to buy from and support a business (regardless of the product or service they offer) I expect to receive what I'm promised in exchange for my money. While I dont think I've got unreasonable standards, I do have them and expect that what I trade my hard earned buck for to be as promised, to last, to be functional, and the company to stand by their product(s) as I do mine. Because let's face it, things and stuff happen and sometimes we get duds. So once I get to put this pony to work I will review based on those standards.Let's be honest here I chose this particular pony for 2 reasons #1 reviews and #2 the price point. Upon unboxing and putting it together it appears to be well made BUT time will tell once I'm able to put it to use. I would like to give a pat on the back to the sellers for making instructions with pictures. Although I know how to put one together, not everyone does. And it just so happened there was as extra screw and nut that had it not been for the detailed instructions/pictures I'd have chased my tail for a while until I realized it appears to have been overlooked. Many reviews I read for various items get docked stars due to not having clear and concise instructions. It comes in just 2 pieces that the buyer must attach it's really simple but not everyone has used/worked with stitching ponies before. Please note that you will need a Phillip's screw driver as well as an allen wrench that are NOT included.

This Works as Expected and Holds the Leather Very Securely
It works, it does what it was designed to do. That's the good part. These are just my pet peeves, the clamp was off center so the hole through the outer too low - It bugged my sense of style and function. I disassembled it and drilled out the holes, plugged them with a 1/4" dowel and redrilled the holes. Everything is straight and looking good. I also sanded everything down with some 400 and 600 grit sandpaper. Now everything is smooth and feels good in the hand. You won't have to do anything, it functions as it should from the manufacturer, but as a woodworker, I had to align everything and sand it smooth.

Good first stiching pony
This was a good value for my first stiching pony. I've used it a few times after moving from hand stiching without one. The parts are easy to put together, quality is good for the price. Not sure why people gave it low stars for the finish, just use some high grit sand paper before you sit on it. Works good and gives a secure hold.

Versatile features at a great price.
I've only had this pony in my shop for a couple of days and I already love it!For about the same price a few years ago, I bought the basic Tandy stitching pony and have been making it work for years. This is a HUGE upgrade over that tool at about the same price. The quick-release lever is awesome! No more endless hand-turning a wing nut in the middle of my stitching. They even put a small wooden wedge below it to keep the loops of thread from catching on it. Nice touch!Being able to adjust the base board around is also excellent! Being able to take it off quickly, without tools, makes it super easy to break down and make portable! The leather over the clamp jaws keeps the wood from marking the project. So far, I'm extremely satisfied with this stitching pony - and at this price, it's a spectacular bargain!

You get what you pay for, but that's ok!
As someone who stitches from the couch this item is perfect to have under your leg while sitting. With this feature you could use this piece almost anywhere. The one down side is that the clamp does not have adjustable pressure. It's great for multiple or thicker pieces while treading, but thinner pieces can slip when moderate force is applied. I cannot fault it for this too harshly, it is a very simply constructed stitch pony, and for the price it is an acceptable compromise.Great for the novice who is building up their tool kit for sure.
