Bought for a secret santa present and got great feedback
I bought this as a secret santa present, as my co-worker indicated she really likes gin. To be clear, I have never tried it personally (i dont drink spirits) but had great feedback from my colleague "the nicest gin she's ever had". Her and several others in my office have since bought more bottles , so they must like it. In summary a great pressie for a gin lover if you're not overly knowledgeable ( like me 😀)

Tastes almost exactly like Cotswold Dry Gin
After much procrastination, I decided to buy this as a Christmas treat for myself...I deserve it after all ;) I've bought over 100 bottles of gin in the last few of years and amongst these, I've tried a few 'Japanese' gins now, some actually from Japan and others 'inspired' by Japan. They all tend to use Yuzu and some more obscure Japanese citrus fruits, some form of tea and Sancho Pepper as well as 'Sakura' or Cherry Blossom as the main additional botanicals. For reference and to help provide some context for my review, amongst these I've tried are Roku (7/10, perfectly enjoyable if a little too subtle), Jinzu (5/10, bit too weird for me), Kokoro (6/10, pleasant enough), Ki No Bi (7/10, interesting but overpriced), Nikka Coffey (10/10, absolute perfection) and now this. Unfortunately, this sits around the 6/7 out of 10 mark. It's smooth and has a nice enough flavour however, I simply cannot get past the fact that this tastes almost exactly the same as Cotswold Dry Gin (itself a 7/10). If I didn't know any better, I would say it's basically the same drink. It even has the same louche that Cotswolds has in addition to the overwhelming lavender flavour. If I were a cynic, I would suggest that the makers have simply bought a batch of Cotswolds and just poured it into a more ornate bottle and slapped a significant mark up on it as I do find it remarkable that two different gins, one from Hokkaido and one from the Cotswolds can taste identical but maybe that's just me. It's perfectly pleasant but at this price point, I expect perfection or close to it. Nikka Coffey retails at roughly the same price and is 3 times the gin this is. If you want to know what this tastes like, do yourself a favour and buy Cotswolds instead. You'll save yourself some money. If you want a truly special Japanese gin at this price, buy Nikka Coffey instead. I can't recommend anyone spends the amount I did for Etsu unfortunately.

Must buy
This gin is truly gorgeous. I'd recommend to anyone, very smooth and fragrant without any bitterness that some gins have. It may seem a bit pricey but it's well worth it. Enjoy!

Don't buy it
I had bought this gin last year and thought it was delicious! I took the opportunity to buy another bottle recently but it turned out to be completely different, and not in a good way. It tastes almost mouldy! Can't believe it's the same gin. It's very expensive so I was extremely disappointed, to say the least.
