I got this as a backup. Having had my OE control fail at a time when I most wanted working A/C, I worried about being without a working backup when I most wanted it -- especially with winter right around the corner. Testing this meant installing it, which is really simple in my pickup. Unfortunately, this came with no installation instructions, but there are videos online that show how to do it with nothing more than a slotted screwdriver (and that's not even used on screws). A small putty knife or plastic pry bar works just as well. Once installed, this looks just like the OE -- except that the raised gray edge around the push buttons is raised just a tiny bit higher. That could be a good thing, protecting the button faces and the lights behind them just a bit better. Otherwise, it's a dead ringer for the OE control unit. It looks just like it, feels just like it, and, best of all, functions just like it should. I'm glad I got this. I hope to have the truck for many more years and having this well-made, important piece ready for when I need it gives me some peace of mind. At the current asking price, I see it as cheap insurance and a real value. (By the way, instead of installation instructions, the seller threw in a little card on how you should wait for your engine to heat up and then use the recirculation function to best effect (all in poor English). Already knowing how heaters work, I found it odd and unnecessary. Maybe they're afraid that the installer won't know this and blame lack of heat on the control if they didn't use it right?)
