Quilting Creations Quilting Stencil Set Two-11 Inch Allover Designs

As a new quilter, I bought these quilting templates to help me get the technique right with my first machine quilting projects. I took a number of pictures so new quilters like me can see more of the stencil.I got the large templates and they are thin plastic and very flexible which is helpful for a stencil. It also means they take up less space can be stored flat in a drawer, hanging or rolled up.They are not for quilting on top of but for transferring the line pattern onto the fabric.To transfer the pattern, I used Quilt Pounce and found that the usual swipe technique for applying the chalk didn't work so great with these templates. I had to dab the chalk on, like if you were sponge painting over a stencil as a kid.I then gently blow the excess chalk off the template, if you don't then mini piles of chalk fall through onto your fabric (see pictures) one is where I blew the excess chalk off and the second picture with the piles in the top right were where I didn't and the chalk on the stencil slid off the stencil and onto the fabric.The stencil is easy to move and match up with the ends so I can keep following the pattern.The lines are thick enough to use a fabric pen to mark the quilting lines rather than using the chalk/Quilt Pounce block.My only downside is that the plastic is thin and easily bent. So I rated this a 3 out of 5 on Sturdiness. I can see how some of the curves or parts of the pattern could be bent and damaged by accident. Indeed, when putting these back in an envelope, another stencil bent part of mine out of shape so be careful with how you decide to store these.The pattern is a bit daunting for a complete beginner but take it slowly and embrace the hiccups with straying off the quilt line as part of the learning process if you are machine quilting. Hand quilting would be super easy once the pattern is transferred to the project from this template.I thought this was good value for money with 2 templates without a huge price tag making this great for a beginner if you are not sure you will stick with your new quilting hobby.I would definitely buy other templates like this to try on new machine quilting projects.

These do not work with the pounce chalk pad system. I hey bend and do not have “rough” marks to help aid get the chalk off the pad an onto the quilt. I won’t buy this brand again.It may work with marking pens or chalk pencils. However, as easy as the stencils bend, I would wonder how well they will holdup if you want to mark up a throw or larger size quilt.

These would have been good stencils, flexible and sturdy. But they arrived with a big slice down the middle of them. The packaging was in tact, so I can only assume they were damaged before they were packaged.
