A FMIC upgrade is one of the best modifications for the 335i, because not only does it yield an average of 35whp and 37wtq but it does so while simultaneously improving consistent performance. How you may ask? When you increase power with a tuning chip for example, you are increasing boost pressure and ultimately heat in the engine. When the ecu (tcm) detects too much heat it will actually limit the amount of power it can produce in order to avoid damage to the engine. Now back to the FMIC, which actually LOWERS heat in the engine which means that not only does it increase the power but also allows the other mods on your car to work more consistently i.e. reducing the chance your car will limit power due to high temperatures. ARM Motorsports 335i FMIC increases cooling efficiency and power on your N54 or N55 equipped 335i by using a 7" core which maximizes intercooler size 20 x 7 x 5.75 inches for a total of 805 cubic inches (almost 100% BIGGER than oem!). It retains all the OEM crash bars and bumper pads as well. The 7" core is constructed of a bar and plate design and will allow for consistent performance. It reduces heat-soak and minimizes the chance of your engine reducing boost and timing due to high IAT. Installation of the ARM 335i FMIC is one of the easiest installations for a 335i with an average install time of around 45min wheels up to wheels down. BMW N54 Owner - VERY happy
It's a great product at an exceptional price. Opt for the upgraded hoses as well to replace the factory ones. This 7" or at least the 5" are required for N54 engines running higher boost from JB, Cobb and other tuners, otherwise, your stock intercooler will get heat soaked, and your ECU will limit power in warm weather.
