Excellent
This is the most down=to-earth, easy to follow and well written hypnosis book I had read. Very easy to understand and explain the mind's ability and the nature of hypnositing self or others as simple it may come. As well many of the author's many other books.I had read on this subject from other sources, and those I read did not expain the nature and practice to the core, and many were misleading and confusing. This book top them all, and to me is the best and worth keeping. It is fun to read, hard to put down, and help make the practice fun to do. since I am a meditater and know some of the practice, this book just help take my practice even deeper. Hypnosis is not hard, you just have to want to practice it, and practice it more and more until it becomes second nature. From my experience, trance is not hard, and once you practice it gets easier, lesser time it take to go in trace. It helps to learn to meditate as well. Learn to clear the mind by breathing meditation, even mantra helps make this practice easier. But this book is no different, it is meditation of more relaxing practice in which also works the same. One has to relax in order go in trance for this practice. Once relaxed, it all becomes second nature, and can help you over come many habbits and answers to conflicts.

Gives detailed instructions on how to Hypnotize
I have read most of William H Hewett's books and I found that everyone of them are very easy to read and understand and they never have any needless mumbo jumbo in them just to fill up the pages. He gives very detailed instructions on every exercise that are easy to understand so that you can achieve your goal. He also tells you about his experience doing the same exercise. I highly recommend any of his books! He is very knowledgeable and makes it very easy to read and understand the book so that you will be able to move forward on your goals.Well written!

Lacks basic undertanding of hynosis
I bought this because I wanted to learn the basics of hypnosis, I find it a fascinating subject. This book was a bad choice in that regard. The author assumes that the same scenario or set up will work for everyone. There is limited flexibility in the author's approach. The mind is fluid, it wavers and wanders. What works for one will or might not work for others. Author misses this completely. There are boiler-plate scenarios for every session. Don't get me wrong, there is a chance it could work. But I find it impossible to believe that the same strategy or set up will work for all. I would recommend a different book that embraces the flexibility of the mind and incorporates that in sessions.

Well written and straight to the point. Good for beginners
This is my first book about Hypnosis, I bought my first copy sometime around 2001. It was easy to read and it taught me a lot.William is a very thoughtful person and always stresses the fact that Hypnosis should be used with care and for the help and wellbeing of others.Back then, when I tried to reach the author to express my gratitude, his friend replied telling me that William (Bill) passed away a few days ago.Highly recommended book:* Lots of scripts: stop smoking, weight loss, etc, etc...* Self-Hypnosis scripts and tips* Cover hypnosis for kids* Lots of case studies to help you in your Hypnosis study pursuit

A book truly for beginners...
If you know the very basics of hynosis, skip this book and move on to something more advanced: if I may, I'll go ahead and recommend the Professional Hypnotism Manual. It goes a lot more in depth and certainly helped me. With that being said, beginners will get quite a bit of scripts and a tad bit of psychological knowledge from this book, but in my opinion nothing that can be practically put to everyday use.

Not finished reading, but great so far!
I can usually tell after the first few chapters if a book will be worth my time or not and I can say this one has a lot of great, practical information on hypnosis. I'm currently studying on this topic and in school for it and I think it's better than the book we use for class. Much easier to understand. I would highly recommend.

Not bad.
Good book but only tells you how to relax and take the tension out of your body and mind. Not a secret mind control book and how to click your fingers and people with do as you say. Only tells you how to close your eyes and relax and how your walking down a beach with blue sky, yer right."

Review of Hypnosis for beginners.
First book iv read on how to hypnotise, so im no expert. the scripts seam a little long winded. Interesting read tho. Would warn that people reading this book take the authers views on past life regresion with a pinch of salt and just accept it as something you can try. I DONT believe that you do experiance real past lifes. Still would recomend for a complete beginer interested in learning some hypnosis.

95% Dribble
I purchased this as a beginners guide.Well it's not very informative, a few sketchy pointers but on the whole endless dated scrips that to be honest don't hit the mark.I have since found much better information and instruction. I would advise anyone having an interest in the subject to check out other reading.

Brilliant for beginners. Includes scripts too
This really is a great book. Its put in simple English and very easy to follow. Lots of exercises and some background knowledge too. What I loved is there are scripts on self hypnosis, past life regression and for cessation. Excellent value
