Shure SM58-LC Cardioid Vocal Microphone without Cable : desertcart.in: Musical Instruments Review: Can't believe Shure is selling it for such a low price. It's a legendary vocal and wood wind mic! - Amazing microphone for such a price. Got it on a lightning deal for 6.7k which is a steal. I really appreciate desertcart for selling it at such a price. I had been waiting on the edge to buy it, but didn't really see any advantage to getting a dynamic mic as I already owned AT2020 and MXL990 and 991. But these are condenser microphones and they really need a lot of acoustic treatment for the room. This mic SM58 on the other hand absolutely sounds phenomenal and we don't need to worry about the room acoustics because it rejects everything else and only picks up the sound from in front of the mic. Pros: 1. Obviously it's legendary build quality. I didn't think it would be 300gm! It's like a tank. You can hammer nails with this. 2. Beautifully tuned for vocals and other woodwind instruments (I play the flute and it records it brilliantly) Almost all artists use this live and it gives the flute a nice natural sound. A condenser microphone actually needs you to be more precise in your breathing and even picks up the small noises while playing. But this microphone rejects all that and only picks up the direct sound. I'm amazed at how well this mic has been designed in a cardioid pickup pattern. I usually have trouble extending the bass flute sounds, but with this mic, it actually accentuates the bass flute sound! 3. It has warm and rich bass sound. 4. Almost all classical live performances and a lot of the bollywood songs are recorded on this mic. The sound signature of this mic is familiar to everyone and hence it sounds so good. Cons: 1. It needs a lot of gain to get a usable signal. And if you don't have a powerful and good quality amp, it'll introduce noise (although you could reduce it in post production). On a scarlett 2i2, this thing needs 75% gain and it is sufficiently loud without any self noise. On a Zoom H5 recorder, it gets by at level 5.5 to 6 gain. So zoom recorder's amps are a little more powerful I believe. I believe this high gain requirement was because it was designed in the late 60s where the equipment was all analog and needed a lot of voltage for the sound mixing boards to work with. What you get in the box 1. Mic (duh!) 2. Mic stand adapter (I thought there was a 3/8th inch adapter but I didn't see it in my box. May be Indian version doesn't have it) 3. Faux leather zippered pouch 4. Cable tie 5. Stickers The microphone has a "Shure - Distributed in India" hologram plastered on it's body. I had made the mistake of peeling it (as I thought it ruined the look of the microphone!) and as soon as I peeled it, the sticker left out a residue in letters saying "void void void". So I think I just voided my warranty! So DO NOT remove the hologram sticker. I believe I got the original and not fake microphone. It had all the signs of an original Shure mic. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the product. I don't think I'll ever be needing my Condenser microphones with such an amazing and well built dynamic mic is available. Note: People who want to run it off their PC or Mac.Don't! .... Get an audio interface as this mic needs good pre-amplification. Review: Genuine Product - Genuine Product

Amazing microphone for such a price. Got it on a lightning deal for 6.7k which is a steal. I really appreciate Amazon for selling it at such a price. The best in the world for vocals of any kind. Period.
Everyone from budding recording artists to seasoned rock stars use this mic all across the world. This is a global standard for voice and it has been the most preferred choice for vocals for more than 30 years. This is what I found in my online search for a good dynamic mic for voice-overs. It doesn't matter what country youre in or what language you speak, the world agrees that the best mic for vocals - considering vocal reproduction, durability, compatibility - there is only one choice - Shure SM58. The LC part in the title just means that there is no cable supplied with it. You just need a standard XLR cable available easily everywhere. The difference in the sound quality is immediately apparent. This produces crystal clear full range sound especially tailored for frequencies in human speech range. I don't want to waste this review by quoting manuals and datasheets, you can check these out by the hundreds available online free of cost. I just want to concentrate on my own experience and review. This is the best. It is heavy and feels solid in my hands. Even the grill is made of thick stainless wire mesh. The dynamic transducer is well protected from shocks and falls and is supposed to withstand the rough use of live on stage concerts and still be sensitive enough to be used in a studio environment. Though my own requirements are pretty humble. I just needed this for voice-overs and audio-book narration. The fact that SM58 is rock solid as well as sensitive is an added bonus for me. I highly recommend this to everyone who wants accurate voice reproduction from a dynamic mic. Absolutely beautiful and perfectly designed piece. Go for it with your eyes closed.

A good Chinese mic
First, almost all Shure sm 58s are made in Mexico and perhaps some sm 57s are only made in China. The one I received is made in China.Next, the original sm 58 costs 90 US dollars ,which is about 6500 rupees.Chinese replicas cost far less, say 20 to 50 us dollars. Then, there is no red mark or stamp inside the lower half of the mic, apart from this fact, this mic is a good Chinese clone. When I tested it ,the sound is not very impressive like the original. So we are paying more than 90 US dollars for a Chinese clone mic.If you want to settle for a second best , you can go for this.(Any way,I am now going to compare it's sound with the legendary original SM 58.)

Solid -- both in build quality and performance
There's no surprise why this mic is so legendary -- it's built like a bullet, and the sound quality is stellar. Highly recommended to go in for this one over the SM57, as the built-in pop filter does an excellent job.

We got the Shure SM58 because it’s an amazing mic and built like a tank. I’ve had one for over 15 years, and it’s still in perfect shape, sounding just as good as the first day. In my vocal band, Don Novenio, we all use Shure mics for percussion we use the Beta 58, and they’re simply the best of the best. Great sound, super tough, and always reliable.

I don't know much about microphones but the reviews for this one seemed good so I got one. Nice clear sound with no background noises. As others, I think, have said, you have to crank up the gain to get a decent volume out of it. Nice heavy solid thing that looks like it will last many years.
