Body-Solid Olympic Adapter Sleeve

I recently bought a pair of these for a total of $40. I was replacing some MARCY brand sleeves. When these arrived, I immediately saw the cheap-quality of these sleeves. First, the hex-bolt does not want to grip the 1 inch bar - it just spins round and round. Second, the MARCY sleeve had a metal pre-rivetted square so that the metal bolts screwed into metal teeth. BUT THESE just take the metal bolt and screw it directly into the plastic! I had to remove the bolts to dig out the plastic shavings between the teeth of the bolts! You also have to be careful of not smoothing out the plastic grooves when tightening. It's a nightmare.This is a $10 product at best. For $40 you can by a PAIR of metal adapters instead of this cheap plastic. Lesson learned!

There's really nothing much to talk about regarding this sleeve. It's made of hard plastic and it allows you to use olympic plates on your standard dumbbells handle / bar.Conceptually, it's brilliantly simple ... just slip this sleeve into a 1" diameter standard bar, tighten the allen screw and voila, you could use olympic plates. However, from the luck of the draw, my sleeve was defective. The middle portion of my sleeve bulges out a bit and hence i cannot get the plates all the way down. I'm going to need to spend some time to sand it down. It's pretty inexpensive, so it's not even worth it for me to return it.If it wasn't because of my bad luck and I had received a functional sleeve, I would have probably given it a 4 or 5 star.

Cheap set-screw strips out plastic threads before really getting tight. Otherwise it does what it says on the tin.

I ordered 3 of these for my powerline vertical leg press. Two worked great and the other fit loosely and would not secure properly. I think it will still be functional for use, just annoying.

Needed a to adapt a Leg curl attachment on my Tuff Stuff setup to accept olympic weight plates. The current length is 9" on the Leg curl attachment and wanted it about the same length. I purchased the Body Solid 14" Olympic Adapter Sleeve here on Amazon (shipped from Fitness-Outlet) and the 14" was surprisingly 28% cheaper than the 8". This adapter sleeve feels fairly heavy about a pound, it is not cheap plastic. I cannot find any cons to this adapter and here are the pros in my humble opinion:* Built solid and will not scratch your plates* inexpensive* Can be cut easily to the length desired. I used a chop saw.* Very snug/solid fit when tightened down with included machine screw and allen wrench.* Round tip helps when putting on weight plates* Looks goodChris

Just received today. Went to install on my pull down machine and the screws on both pieces are stripped out. Won't buy Body Solid again.

I have a GLDA1 leg attachment and when I'd do leg curls, my 2" plates would shift and the top of the motion. I got this and no more clanging. It works great!
