Customer service
I first contacted Tannas on 22 August 2024 with regard to a refund for the failure of this item. I received a refund from them on 10 January 2025. I had to wait nearly five months for a refund.I exchanged 61 messages with them during this time.At first, they said that the item was out of warranty. They used the date of manufacture as the date of the start of the warranty instead of the sale date.I provided them with a copy of their invoice. They told me that I had to contact the manufacturer, ADATA.ADATA told me to contact the seller.I was then asked for proof of purchase of the drive even they are the people who sold it to me.Amazon then helpfully supplied details of my order even though Tannas would have these details already. Amazon did all they could to help me with this. This dragged on and on.Tannas customer services told me to contact ADATA and Amazon but provided almost no help themselves.

Worked well for two years
(I am mostly a Linux user.)The product worked well for two years then developed a fault that made it read-only. It was almost but not quite full at the time. The fault is well documented online with many brands of portable drive and seems to be irrecoverable. I am a bit lucky insofar as other users with the same fault have completely lost the use of the disk (I'm talking all brands here). I can still access my files, copy them elsewhere, play videos directly from the drive etc, and even delete them.By contrast my older Verbatim 500Gb drive is still going strong (though admittedly I've used it less often).I think you have to be realistic about portable storage at this capacity in this price range. You can get lucky but there is a shelf life, especially if you're constantly connecting and disconnecting. (Two years is a bit on the low side though.) Commercial-standard hardware with the same capacity is many times the price.

Unusual connection cable
The device does is not have a standard socket, so if you lose or misplace the connection cable then a replacement will take a lot of effort.
