Fantastic cage
This really is a hamster mansion. It is huge with plenty of space for hamsters to run and play. The big acrylic windows allow you to see all of your furry friend's activities while the ramps and houses provide ample hiding spots. There is enough room on the lowest level for a full sized (10 inch) exercise wheel. Overall a great house but there are a few cons: 1. It is wood so some modifications will need to be made to prevent chewing and also water damage from leaky water bottles and/or animal urine. I used waterproof contact paper and a square of plastic dollhouse "linoleum" flooring for under the waterbottle. 2. The bottom panel is not anchored down and doesn't cover all edges and corners. You will need to put something underneath to catch bedding and prevent damage to surfaces underneath. 3. Assembly... not difficult, but the holes are not predrilled so if you're not careful and don't line it up exactly, you could end up with something a little crooked or wobbly.Anyway, this cage is georgous as is, but if you're a hobbyist, there are endless possibilities for personalizing this cage for your critter. So far a very happy hamster!

Absolutely love the possibilities!
The media could not be loaded. Okay, I'm going to try to get as much info as possible in here...1. I am not sure what other people had problems with putting this together because I think it was pretty easy compared to Ikea furniture. Sure it doesn't have written out steps, but the pictures are pretty self explanatory. Took my partner and I about 10 minutes. That being said, it is definitely easier with two people.2. The wood is great and lightweight making it easy to move around and pick up, especially when doing modifications and changing stuff, the way I did. If you plan on painting the outside (like I did) plan on 2x's the paint, it really soaks it up and you will need two layers.3. That being said, yes, this will definitely be an easy enclosure for your hamster to chew through. However, the whole point of having a huge enclosure like this, is to have tons of room and space and toys and so much for them to do that they don't even think about chewing the walls because there's so much to do. I will update with pictures once I finish the enclosure, but I plan to pack it with tons to explore.4. Easy to clean? No, not at all if you don't take many steps, but again, I knew I was going to enjoy modifying it so I have some suggestions. First off, I flipped the door on the front to the top like another reviewer suggested. This way I can fill the entire bottom with substrate and still use the door. If you fill it up to the door, this gives you 11 inches! (BTW, the minimum is 6 inches!) I also yeeted the second shelf. It takes up too much space for natural things. In fact I sawed it into pieces and used them as a fence for my top floor so my hamster won't fall off the sides. Again, the soft wood makes for easy cutting. Anyway, I like that you can remove the floor so I used waterproof contact paper and covered the whole floor so that urine won't soak into the wood. Around the entire inside walls I used mod podge to put a clear coat (and hamster safe) sealant so again, any urine won't soak into the wood. I also did this with the entire top shelf (so that little hammy doesn't ruin my beautiful rainbow!)Anyway, like I said, this piece needs lots of modifications (and tons of hamster research) before using, but gosh it's just so beautiful and I love it anyway! Much love to your little pets!Edit 4/9/22:Kiwi is so happy in here! We haven't really had any issues because of how much I planned ahead (and because I have a pretty easy-going little ham). He definitely pees in his little hide under the substrate, but putting down contact paper and mod podge has kept the wood from soaking up urine. I spot clean here and there and haven't really had to clean anything major but his little hole underground. We haven't had any issues with chewing walls or trying to escape, but you'll see from the video that I added hooks to the top just incase. I can't have any escapes, I have 3 little dogs who would hunt him down! I change his hides and move stuff around every other month, just to keep things new for him and I also scatter feed/hide food so he has to work to find it. Definitely recommend this enclosure!

MAKE SURE THE DOOR IS FLIPPED TO THE TOP
I bought this in the summer of 2021 for my gerbils. When we first got it, we assembled it as the stock photos. Everything was fine until a couple of months later they would scratch and chew the bottom of the cage. We tried more rolls, more toys, and it worked for a while but it all changed in June 2022. NOTHING WORKED.Well in December 2022 after months of disrupted sleep, I had the bright idea to look at how others assembled it and I flipped the door panel to where you open it at the top left. I took out one floor and piled the bottom with bedding. PEACE AT LAST! They are so happy building their tunnels! If they do scratch, we place toys, rolls in there. Once they chew and play they go back to their tunnels. ❤️
