In fact, they should have got this actor to play Han Solo and I guarantee it would have been a better performance. Basically its about this guy with a whip that goes to India , and they have this mine with kids working on it. Some of the kids are lazy and try to take breaks when its not break time, so they get this guy Indiana to come with his whip and try to get the kids to work harder. It works for a little while, but then this satanic cult comes and tri3s to take over the mine, so he has to go from working to boost productivity and instead has to run out the cult so the mine can continue to operate. The cult leader is sneaky though, and they actually trick him into working for them for a little while, until one of the kids from the mine comes and whips him to remind him what his real job was and he wakes up and together they fight the cult. He ends up making the kid that saved him the new boss over production at the mine and he returns home, content that the kid will be able to keep the mine running efficiently. The kid also shows a lot of growth, because it the start of the movie, he is one of the laziest kids in the mine and has to get whipped everyday. But based on the lessons he learns, he grows and ends up being the one with the whip. There is also a part where a guy that thinks he is going on a vacation in Hawaii, actually gets tricked by the cult and they pull his heart out and drop him in lava. And its so hot, that his heart actually catches on fire and its not even in the lava. Review: Amazing! - This is Harrison Ford at some of his best! These films are basically really well done tribute films to action adventure radio dramas and serial cliff hangers. Well the original trio of films that is. After the Last Crusade the love is gone from this franchise/ BThis movie packs in blood, violence, some truly horrible deaths, action, adventure, romance, and magic. For all the people shouting Nazi without a clue who were they were or what they did (or why they did it), this film won't do much to educate you. It does however have a lot of Nazi villains/ If you are looking for a great action and sci fi movie that is loosely faithful to a WW2 era film you can't go wrong here. I would almost give this film a kid friendly rating and while 90 percent of the fil is just very well done the gore is probably too harsh for minors when it happens.

Dark and often vicious yet an entertaining adventure movie
Of all of the Indiana Jones movies, I actually find this one to be the weakest. Now that is a relative term, as I have given the movie 5 stars and think it is a really great time at the movies. I think this one suffers a bit from being a sequel that gives audiences exactly what they want, in other words there really is no growth such in the story, characters, etc such as we saw going from Star Wars to The Empire Strikes Back. What would I consider to be growth for these characters? Look no further than the third movie, which introduced us to Indiana Jones' dad (Sean Connery) and gave Indy a background that audiences could relate to. I consider Indiana Jones to be the single greatest character ever put on film. The movies are episodic in nature, full of cliff-hangers and featuring many death-defying stunts and sequences. Some of what we see in the Temple of Doom stretches the limits of believable reality, ie diving out of a crashing airplane in an inflatable raft. Now I know that all of these movies feature stuff that would be at best questionable, but with some of the other big action shots, I could at least believe that maybe, perhaps it would just be possible for what I just saw to actually work. But I digress. The Temple of Doom is chronologically the first Indiana Jones movie, set in 1935. We pick things up in a bar named "Club Obi Wan" (Star Wars reference) where Indy is negotiating with a notorious Chinese henchman over the remains of some ancient Chinese leader. We are quickly introduced to the American singer Willie Scott, played by Kate Capshaw, and things soon go south. An action-packed escape from China leads Indy, along with Willie Scott and his sidekick Short Round, to India, where they come across a village that has suffered an attack from Thuggee troops from the nearby Pankot Palace that relieved them of a rock that gave life to their region, as well as all of their children. Great action movie with human sacrifice and some voodoo torture thrown in for good measure. The movie has some dark and disturbing moments that actually led to the creation of the PG-13 rating back in 1984 (Red Dawn was the first movie slapped with that rating). But here is the biggest problem with the movie. Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade featured a well known villain, the Nazis. Every one can relate to those guys. We all know who Adolf Hitler was, and we all know what he wanted to do. So you have a clearly defined villain and you have Indiana Jones doing all he can to thwart their nefarious plans. But who among us know much if anything about the Thuggee? I researched them and learned that they were real, but they simply are not a known quantity. That makes it difficult to gauge their intentions and why we should be rooting so hard against them (other than they are the obligatory bad guys). Still, it is an Indiana Jones movie. Great musical score as always by John Williams. Harrison Ford ... need I really say how awesome he is? Steven Spielberg right in the height of his career.

Always A Joy
Not as good as the other films but entertaining nonetheless. Not sure why some reviewers are so quick to jump on the "racist" (which is widely overused anyway and most don't even understand what it means) and "sexist" bandwagon. Humph! Feminists. (((Rolling eyes))). It's entertainment. A film. Get your panties out of a bunch! Oh wait, was that "sexist"? My bad. Time was set in the 1930s. Film reflects the times. Get over it. Acting and directing left a little to be desired. Regardless of Spielberg's personal life at the time, it was still decent. I wish the bad guy came in sooner to the film like the rest but it was a nice attempt at doing something a little different. I like the macabre aspect to it. The kind of "darker" imagery, although I don't see it being darker than the Lost Ark. The end with the melting faces and exploding heads? Great! This one isn't as dark as everyone makes it out to be. Someone complained about the sound. I didn't have any issues with it. In fact, it was so loud at times, I had to turn it down. For being an early 80s baby ('81) and growing up with these swashbuckling good guy vs. bad guy films, I appreciate the attempt. Although, I think a remake wouldn't hurt the franchise!

Love it.. love Indy! Back in the day this one was my favourite but as I grew older Raiders became number one for me. But these newer versions of TOD feature the original extended versions to what I remember the UK VHS collections were like. We never saw the heart removal scene or the extra shots in the mine fight and that. The new 4k brings it even more clearer and it is again becoming my favourite. I just wish they would give a little more with the product though. Like a decent booklet or something.
