Good gas lift for office chairs
Its is a great gas lift for generic office chairs. Please check if your chair has a generic gas lift before purchasing. Installation of this gas lift requires some mechanical skills. 1. Remove the red cap plastic cover on top of the piston, just hold it with a plier and pull it off. 2. Remove the chair upholstery from the bottom half of the chair, so that the chair seat is taken out of its resting plate. 3. Keep some cushion / similar material to avoid floor damage and turn the bottom half upside down so that the wheelbase is at the top and the metal plate is slightly above the ground. 4. Hammer the old central gas lift rod present in the chair, that sticks out from the wheel base; while hammering, you will notice that it's sinking until it eventually comes off. 5. Keeping the same upside down position, hold the gas lift and hammer the plate evenly from all the sides , forcing the plate to fall on the ground. Hit the plate as close to the gas lift rod, with the plate facing downward slightly above the ground. After a lot of hammering, eventually this would give way as well. 6. Remove and replace the plastic hosing (if present). 7. Place the new gas lift with its red button facing upward onto the wheel base of the chair. Place the plastic hosing back on the wheel base through the gas lift. 8. Now place the plate back on the gas lift so that its flat portion faces upward and it sits above the red button of the gas lift. 9. Simply sit on the plate and release the lock to check if everything works. Move up and down a couple of times and your weight is enough to hold them back together. 10. Place the seat back on the plate and that's it! Enjoy your chair. The product is as good as how my old gas lift used to be working, go for it as its less expensive but of good quality.

built Quality is Worst.
I am thoroughly dissatisfied with the shockingly poor quality of the gas lift's inner plastic components in this product. Just two months of use and they already shattered, making the entire purchase of 450/- seem like a monumental waste. It's baffling that this item received positive reviews, as its subpar durability and construction are evident. The plastic used feels incredibly flimsy and inadequate for its intended purpose, raising questions about the manufacturer's commitment to quality. This purchase was an unfortunate mistake, and I strongly caution others against making the same error.

Looks like a refurbished stuff
The lift did not look new. It was dull with many scratches. It fitted to my office chair, but is 3-4 inches taller than the previous cylinder I had, hence my office chair has become like a high-rise high-back chair. It holds the weight and its performance is absolutely alright

Plug and play install
Package came in good wrap and quality is good. It took time to remove the old hydraulic b'coz it got stuck in the chair base. Took pipe wrench and good amount of force to remove it. Installing this new one is just plug and play. Fix it in base and keep the upper chair on top of the hydraulic and turn the chair, it should fix in properly.

very good and strong product
My chair used to go down and stuck there, it takes extremely high strength to pull it back to original position, I was really fed up and thought of buying a new chair, but with some youtube videos i was able to find the problem is with the Gas lift cylinder and was able to find this product in amazon, highly recommend this product, though my review is after short term usage only but the product seems strong and i hope i can easily use it for 2 yrs or so. Just spent an hour and taking youtube videos help, i was able to fit it myself

I had no idea that one could repair the gas lift mechanism on office chairs. My brother purchased one and replaced it on his chair, and with his recommendation I purchased one as well. It is amazingly easy to replace and makes the chair look and feel just like new again. Saved $100's of dollars not replacing the whole char.

Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder Replacement - Universal Size, Heavy Duty Hydraulic and Pneumatic Shock , Fits Most Executive Chairs (Color Black) Arrived quickly. No problems with device. Fit my office chair perfectly and is functioning properly so far. As long it lasts a year or so, it will be well worth the price. (I'll let you know.) It saved me the considerable cost of a new chair. It is easy to install needing only a screw driver or hex wrench to remove and remount the chair base and a hammer to remove the old cylinder.

This fit an executive chair I bought several years ago at an office supply box store. I had a terrible time extracting the old gas cylinder, but eventually read a post online with wisdom that I'd like to pass on to you. IF YOUR OLD CYLINDER GETS STUCK, 1. Spray lube (I used spray silicone lube) and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Spray both sides of the stuck area if you can reach them. 2. If the gas cylinder is stuck in the base (like mine was), then have someone lift the chair several inches in the air and then you hammer the base part, preferably with a rubber mallet to prevent damage to the base. Eventually, the base will not be able to sustain the blows and it will fall to the floor, finally dislodging the gas cylinder. My gas cylinder was also stuck into the bottom of the seat. Eventually, I had someone turn the seat of the chair upside down, and then I had them hold the stuck gas cylinder, which was pointing up. I hammered the rest of the metal seat hardware into which the cylinder was stuck, and eventually the base of the seat fell off of the gas cylinder to the floor. It wasn't the easiest job, but it was the only way I could figure out to get these very, very stuck pieces out. Good luck!

This item arrive on time from the supplier and is just as it appears in the photo. There are no installation instructions but you can find videos on line. The replacement cylinder is much taller than stock chair cylinders so you can lift seat higher if needed.

Excellent chair ram with lots of travel. I wish all chairs came with one of these to begin with.
