Enchanted Collection
Ella Enchanted, The Two Princesses of Bamarre and Fairest were a perfect set of books for the person I bought them for--my eleven-year-old sister. She absolutely loved them! The three books are very similar (as they are written by the same author); they each have a strong, engaging, endearing female lead. Even when I reread them, years after I first picked them up in the library as a child, I still fell in love with the heroines. Gail Carson Levine is skilled at drawing the audience into the story and making them feel invested in the characters and story. Each brave heroine in the three books has strengths to admire; Ella is clever and witty, Aza becomes confident in her own skin, and Addie is loyal and extremely loving. Each have a good, kind heart, and the courage to do what they believe is right. The reader is rooting for each till the end of story.Even though my eleven-year-old sister is a tomboy and has hated princesses for most of her short life, she loved these books. They have just the right amount of action, suspense and sweetness for people of all ages and tastes to enjoy!

Delightful books, all three!
We bought this for Ella Enchanted, but the other two books are delightful as well. Ella Enchanted is a book that is appropriate for young and old alike, and the other two follow suit. Gail Carson Levine fills her novels with humor and wit and tragedy and beauty, and any lover of fairy tales will appreciate her spins on the classics as well as her original tale of the princesses of Bamarre. As a side note, the book Ella Enchanted is really very different from the movie and is far, far better and makes way more sense. The characters are much more lovable/hate-able and the story is gripping and pulls you right in.Also, these are the kind of books that deserve to be read multiple times, and aloud to the family at least one of those times!

Sister-in-law liked it
I can’t comment on how the books are since I haven’t read them, but I gave this set as a gift to my sister in law who read these books when she was younger and liked them quite a bit. The set came in good quality and she was happy with the gift.

Wonderfully refreshing books for girls
I read them all in about three days. I couldn't put them down! And a great price for the three together.I am older (28) than the intended audience, but I have been trying to catch up on some novels to have around for my daughter to read when she's older. There is so much garbage out there for girls, but these books were so refreshing. Fun princess storylines, but the lead female characters were good-hearted and intelligent. What I also appreciated was that the male characters were admirable. They were not the "fixer-upper" boys Disney has been portraying recently. Good lessons taught and very entertaining.Ella Enchanted and Fairest are my preferences of the three. They give a little creative twist on classic fairy tales and so had a familiarity to them, but were not at all predictable.

Nice box Set
I really enjoyed Ella Enchanted and the Two Princesses of Bamarre. They were short and sweet. I did not like Fairest very much. This is because of the ending. Endings are very important, because (usually) you will not know what happens to the characters after you close the book. There were some parts that I disagree with, though they are nothing too major. After the prince hurt the main character she does forgive him rather too easily. And more than that, the prince did not believe the main character. When they said the main character was part ogre and tricking people he was disgusted with her.

Love Gail Carson Levine
These books are empowering for young women. Instead of the usual "fairy tale swooning princess story", they aretales filled with warrior princesses who are still feminine while remaining strong. "Fairest" is one of my all-timefavorite stories, because it encourages the reader to develop their inner person and not rely on outer beauty tojudge her strength. I read this to my pre-teens a few years ago and they loved it. All the books in the set are appropriate forpre-teen to 15 or 16 years old. I (as an adult) also found them extremely well-written and engaging.

Great stories not just for girls
These stories are great. I could not put any of these books down. They're heroines are engaging and strong. They take action without being stereotypes. Each of them has their own set of skills, problems, and obstacles to overcome.I read Ella Enchanted when I lived in the States and fell in love with the witty and charming girl who won't give up and finds her own unique ways to deal with her problems. Although I was older than the intended audience it didn't feel too childish or one-dimensional.Much later I discovered this collection and just had to buy it. I love Addie and Meryl. Being a sister myself I just couldn't stop reading. I liked the dragon and had to laugh at the Book of the Homely Truths. It just was a wonderful story for being stuck on a train or sitting outside in the sun.To my surprise even my neighbour ( a 10 year old boy ) likes the stories. He loves to hear about the ogres and how the heroines escaped them. He likes the girls because they are as strong as boys. That actually made me laugh.

Image is a lie
THE COVERS ARE NOT THE ONES ADVERTISED ON THE BOX. I wanted the realistic covers, and instead got the cartoon ones. Very disappointed. I only bought these ones because of the covers.

High expectations not met
I LOVED this movie so much that I had high expectations.I am quite let down. The storyline is good, but the writing is more cumbersome than it needs to be. Chunky and awkward it is difficult reading. Way more difficult than it needs to be. I love reading aloud to my daughter and this was not a big winner for either of us.And it doesn't have any of the campy fun feel of the film.Might have felt differently if I hadn't seen the film, but I usually prefer the book. Not so in this case.
