Wigwam Thermax Cap II

THE best hat out there for wind!!!!!! I Actually got my first two wigwam hats when I was stationed in South Korea over about 14 years ago. The clothing sales had these for sale to wear with BDU's in the winter. These have a very tight weave and are not bulky or thick and provide excellent wind protection. I got another one, even though my other two are in great shape with one sporting a small hole from a burning ember that came down when I was burning a bunch of skidoo crates in the middle of the winter in Fairbanks, AK. One of the best things is that you can have it folded in half like it's shown in the picture, then fold the top curved part down to the brim, then fold it in half again, left to right and it's maybe two inches thick and fits neatly in a pocket of a winter jacket, that way I can go around and if the wind picks up or I'm outside longer than planned I have this nice hat already with me.

Perfect winter hat! I've been wearing these at work for over a decade. This is the best beanie I've ever had for long winter nights on the flightline. The tight acrylic knit keeps your head and ears very warm and itch free. Warmer than you would think for as thin as it is. It is very thin and light weight making it easy to fold up in a front jacket pocket when going indoors. The tight knit also works great at blocking the wind, unlike the micro fleece and other knit hats. I have also been recommending these to new Airmen every chance I get. They are almost always sold out at AAFES Military Clothing Sales. That's why I had to order from Amazon this time. Honestly, I wish Amazon would take over running all the BXs. I hate the AAFES mafia, selling stuff you cannot get locally at today's prices for last year's discontinued models.

Good aspects: Made in Sheboygan by skilled artisans. Just the right amount of thickness to keep you warm. Pulls down over your ears or easily converts to BEANIE MODE so you can store it on your head during your indoor stints. Also! (this is a major plus) has absolutely NO identifying logos at all, other than a perfectly tolerable tag sewn inside.Compared with the SmartWool hat, it's not quite as soft. but Get THIS! it has no seam, which the SmartWool version has. And who neeeds a seam? If I wanted a seam, I'd buy one separately and install it myself!Bad aspects: none

I read the reviews before ordering this product, and felt that they were mixed enough to give it a chance.Well, when it arrived, this cap was amazingly small. Child sized, would be my best description. Luckily, I had ordered two different items. The other fit fine and the Wigwam was immediately returned. Luckily, Amazon's current return system made the process fast and painless.

I love these thin caps. I bought the first one before going to New Zealand in 1998 in the fall/early winter. With my hooded jacket, I was toasty warm whenever I needed it. I've since acquired a few more caps and they are all I wear in the cold months. I really like that they fit into a small pocket without bulking out, but provide a lot of warmth. Any of the thin Wigwam caps work as well (I have several different types). Expensive, but well worth it to me. Hard if not impossible to find in stores in the small market I live in, so I'm delighted Amazon has these.

These lightweight caps have an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio and continue to insulate, even when damp. I have been wearing them in all four seasons, for many years. The quality of the material and workmanship are superior. The caps will not shrink when washed in hot water or dried on high heat. They never seem to wear out or fall apart--although I wear them almost every day (even at night, when I sleep). About the only time I have to replace them is if I lose one. They can be comfortably worn under a hood, under another cap, or as a hat liner. Another thing I love about them is the long length, allowing them to be pulled down over my ears when it's cold, or pulled down over my eyes when I go to sleep. My hat size is extra large and these one-size-fits-all caps fit my bald head just fine. They can easily be stuffed into a jacket or pants pocket, and they look highly cool.

FIT: Medium size. Will be small on large heads.Light weight, fits in a pocket, tight knit, warmer then heavy wool caps I have.

I Love this hat!!! I buy a new one every two years ( I'm outdoors a great deal and the black fades) Also I always keep a spare one around just in case I lose one. Not too bulky to stash in a cargo pants pocket so I always have it with me. It's tight at first but it will stretch out and fit your head comfortably. I had found a wool one, very similar that I liked but I'm bald and the wool makes my head itch after wearing it all day.

I was in the army for years and now I am in Law enforcement and this is THE BEST toque you will ever buy.I think I'm on my 4th or 5th right now, I keep losing them and I won't wear another toque. I just wish it came in a decent Navy blue or olive drab but you won't be disappointed with it. Fits anyone, looks great, feels great, keeps you warm.

This thing definitely​ keeps me warm during the winter (-30 degrees celsius at worst). Only downside, that I should've expected is that it squeezes your head like a condom. Not a bad thing if you like it that way but I like it to be a little loose.

Excellent product. I own two different ones for two years now with heavy use and still going strong.
