THE ETHERNET WORKS WITH NINTENDO SWITCH I HAVE CONFIRMED IT
Amazing! This is the only usb hub with built-in ethernet that I have found that works with the Nintendo Switch. It's the only one that supports the correct chipset and I have confirmed that I get full (usb 2.0 because that's all the Switch allows) speed ethernet. I'm sure it's great on PC too as it is usb 3.0 and gigabit. One thing to note though is that I am using the included power supply, I do not know if this is required but since I am using it solely with my Switch Dock anyways I didn't mind using another plug, as my entertainment center is outfitted with more than enough. If you want to have ethernet on Switch while also keeping and expanding the number if usb ports for wired gamepads or gamecube adapters, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO. It may be a little more spendy than other hubs, BUT IT'S WORTH IT.

Excellect choice if you do no have a lan connection on your laptop
I had purchased a Cable Matters USB3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Network Adapter and it worked Great for Windows 10 and I thought it might work for 2012R2. I contacted cable matters and they said it would work. It did not. I looked into this Star Tech USB3.0 to Dual Port Gigabit and it also said it worked for Windows 10 but did not say it would work for Server 2012R2. I left a message for Star Tech and they said it would work so purchased it. Just received it today and plugged it in on my Server 2012R2 and it worked without using the disk. The system found the driver and installed it automatically. I ran a network speed test on the star tech USB 30 to Ethernet vs a gigabit lan network connection to the internet thru Comcast and got similar connection speeds with both. The only downfall is the size of the adapter as you need room for 2 lan connections

Not Best for the Nintendo Switch HAC-007 Dock, but it Works as Advertised.
The Gigabit Ethernet works as advertised, as my internet speeds on my Nintendo Switch jumped from 19.4 MB/s to 58.6 MB/s (with suspended software in the background). However, the device will turn off any equipment plugged in when it's not drawing internet in sleep mode, such as ElecGear's Dock Fan for Nintendo Switch HAC-007 Dock. Not effective for powering that rear fan in sleep mode, but definitely effective for a reliable online gaming experience.I will note that I still had the external power source powered up and connected when this all happened. Perhaps the snow damaged the power adapter before I even brought it inside from the cold, snowy weather.

Did exactly what I needed, in the way I needed it to.
I was having some trouble with my onboard ethernet port, so rather than run it all down, or replace the motherboard preemptively, I just decided to go this route. I've had good luck with USB Ethernet adapters before, so I wasn't too worried. Fortunately, this one presents itself to the system as two separate interfaces, so you could use this if you wanted to have your machine function as a router, or some other dual-homed system. In my case, I just bonded the two interfaces into one, and increased the performance. It works perfectly.

Couldn't get it to work in MAC Monterey 12.1
I am a tech person so I have a lot of experience installing drivers in MAC as well as pcs. I downloaded their latest drivers from their website and followed their instructions exactly. I never got any blocked extension notice when I installed the driver software. So I wasn't sure if the drivers even went in or not. The USB hub portion showed up in the usb device tree, but that was it. When I plugged in the device, nothing ever showed up under the network devices so I don't even know if this thing was actually working at all. There's no power indicator so perhaps it was dead or just doesn't install properly in mac. The only thing that worked was the usb ports on them and they did show up under the usb device tree. With all the drivers that Startech has for mac with this device, I wonder why it won't work. They seem legit but perhaps it's just another faulty unit? Who knows. Returned device.Just as an aside, I ordered their previous usb ethernet version from Amazon and Staples. Both devices were clearly returned and resold. So I am assuming there are lots of defective?/returned units which doesn't give me much confidence about this company's products.

StarTech does it again with another Great product!!
August 31stStartech has always come off as being a trusted, good quality brand in my mind. I've never had any bad luck with their products.I ordered one unit, months ago and have been using it without issue and getting USB and Ethernet speed efficiency out of it without issue. It had performed consistently without fail.I am a little disheartened and even skeptical with some of the negative reviews being left about this product. I wonder if cause for reported issues are OE related, if not then this product being used on a USB 2.0 (or less) port, which would certainly produce some (if not all) of the issues being reported.I have purchased 2 more for machines I have lacking both sufficient USB ports and ethernet ports and so far, still performing up to snuff.

Excellent Choice for PC's with limited ports
I use my Microsoft Surface tablet at work, where we have only wired network connections. Also, I am connecting two external backup disks (1 x USB 3.0 and 1x USB 2.0) and a flash drive (USB 3.0). All of them work in harmony. The unit does not have an ON/OFF switch. Therefore, after I power down my Surface, I unplug the unit and remove my external drive. Otherwise it will keep the external drives active. However, this does not bother me. Still a 5 star!

Works on MS Surface Pro 4
Works perfectly on my MS Surface Pro 4 at work...allows for me to connect a network cable and run a USB console cable when I'm working in the field as the Surface Pro 4 tablet only has a single USB port.
