Rather Good
First off make sure you buy from Amazon direct to pay the correct price of 139.99 not the inflated price other sellers are offering. Well the colour works rather well though of course the majority of books will still have the same bw text. I actually like the 6 inch size as I find it is easier to hold in my hands rather than the bigger screens and as you can adjust font size then readability is not an issue. What really bugs me about the Kindle (though everything else works fine) is that when you want to expand the Wikipedia info you have to tap the screen. On every Kindle I have had this never works without frustration. Whereas on the Kobo it's just a light press and away you go. I also like the fact that it isn't restricted to the Amazon propriety Mobi or AZW but uses Epub or Kepub and is much better for PDF files than the Kindle. You can also borrow direct from your library with Overdrive which is pretty nifty. Listen Kindles are fine but its nice to have alternatives and Kobo should be congratulated on bringing out a colour model that works really well.

Compact and lightweight
I like the small size and can be carried inside a bag as it doesn't weigh much. The screen is quite small and hasn't got the clarity of a Kindle but the matt finish resists any reflections, and it works remarkably well in bright light. The colours are not rich like an oled screen but for reading, this isn't essential. It's unlikely you'll want to read in anything other than black and white. The colour is mostly used for book covers. It's easy to set up an account, so you can get reading within minutes.

Kobo Clara Colour Absolutely brilliant Ereader and terrific value for money
Delighted with the Kobo Clara colour, its packed with usefull features, warm light for night reading, colour of course, and water resistant. The reading experiance with a colour Ereader is very slightly different to a grey scale Ereader the Clara colour reminds me of reading a paperback book and is so cosy you can even add a little warm light to it to get the authenitic old paper feel for all your favorite classics rather than the clinically sharp grey scale readers I also own but for me the Kobo is a far better reading experiance. Book covers jump into life, graphic novels in colour are great. I would recommend anyone thinking of buying the Kobo Clara colour to go ahead and buy one, and curl with your favorite author.

A colour screen probably makes it harder to read in natural light.
I bought this at a time when the Kobo Clara BW and Colour were at the same price, and I think I would have been happier with the BW, because I hardly use the colour feature (I get to see text highlights and book covers in colour, which isn't that important to my reading experience) but in low light conditions the colour screen needs the backlight to be turned on while in the same lighting conditions my Kindle Paperwhite (a black and white e-reader) is perfectly readable without use of the backlight. If Kobo were to update the firmware with a landscape reading mode for ebooks, maybe a photo display mode (so I could transfer a collection of jpg files to my kobo and look at them) and even a mp3 player mode (so I could listen to music through the same bluetooth headphones I have to use for audiobooks) then that would improve the product.

It's a great e-reader, if you keep in mind that the colour isn't its primary function
As the title says really: It's a great little e-reader with a colour function. The thing to keep in mind though is that the colour can only really be called 'a nice touch' To me, it's the same shade of colour and texture I used to see on cheap news print (kind of a washed out water colour on cheap paper) and as such has a certain charm left over from paper books. For visually pleasing book colours, illustrative diagrams, this is a great improvement. If however you're after for something to match a decent quality tablet/phone and those rich, vibrant colours, this is NOT for you, at least not if colour is important part. I was looking to buy a new e-reader and the colour version was out at the same time by coincidence so I'm really happy with this. However, I wouldn't recommend you go out and replace a reader you're already happy with solely on the basis of colour covers. In itself, I don't personally think it's a feature worth buying a whole device for. But, if you have the money and want a new toy... You could certainly do worse.

Amazing ereader, the colour highlighting and covers are beautiful. The screen is really crisp in my opinion and I used to have a paper white. Light adjusts by swiping down side of screen is really helpful and on/off button is located on back so it doesn’t always turn off. Being able to connect to the library is exciting. While kobo doesn’t have kindle unlimited they have their own kobo plus and vip membership which I like and enjoy using.
