One Hand In A Cast; The Other Partially Functional; The Ability to Shower Unassisted - Priceless...
Surgery on my dominant hand and its subsequent casting posed quite a challenge; my other hand is only partially funtional. Since I was not to get the cast wet, showering was going to be tricky. My spouse travels for work, and I needed something to keep the cast dry. I had to be able to manage without assistance. Curad Cast Protector (Adult Arm) proved to be a lifesaver!Curad Cast Protector is easy to put on, even with only minimum grip-strength in my uncasted hand. Although the opening appears small, it stretched to accommodate the cast and then contracts snugly to fit my upper arm. The Curad Cast Protector slides easily over a fiberglass cast. The absence of a ring which needs to be adjusted or snapped closed is another positive. Made of a slightly heavy vinyl-type material, the Curad Cast Protector is ideal for those of us who are sensitive to or allergic to latex. Two cast protectors come in the package, but I believe I will be able to use only one during the six weeks I am in the cast. Amazon's prie was 30% less than the chain drugstores.I did experience some minimal leakage the first time I used the Curad Cast Protector, but have subsequently learned not to leave the top "dished" so that water pools in the depression. I simply ease the top upward as far as possible, making sure to do so evenly. Then I flatten the sides to my arm - voila, no more leaks!I am a smaller individual, so I am providing some measurements to assist you in making your purchase decision. My forearm, from the elbow to the end of my middle finger measures 16"; the Curad Cast Protector extends about 4" above my elbow. My cast measures about 13" at the widest point and the thumb is completely encased, extending at about a 60 degree angle. My upper arm measures about 10.5" where the Curad Cast Protector (Adult Arm) ends.If you are in need of a cast protector that works well for showering, is easy to use, and is reasonably priced, you should consider the Curad Cast Protector products. In my opinion, this is definitely a 5-star item.

If You Have a Cast or Bandage on Your Arm, You Need These! Here's Why and How to Use Them!
First, I apologize in advance for any typos, etc.… I am dictating this because I have a broken wrist (hence the need for the cast protector!)I cannot believe how incredibly well these things work! You would think that given the cheap price, etc., they would tear, not fit, or otherwise not work. Not so!!When you first look this cast protector, you will also think that there is absolutely no way that your arm will fit through the little hole at the top. Also not so! The trick, as a few others have noted, is to gently ease it up over your cast or bandage, and over your arm, gently taking one side up a bit, then the other side of a bit, and so on and so forth (this will make sense to you when you first put one on).As for the size, I am a petite woman (5'3), and this covers my arm all the way have to halfway between my shoulder and my elbow.I have also found that, at least for me, the trick to successfully using this is to not bother trying to put your thumb in the thumb part (like a mitten has) but rather to just put your hand all the way down to the bottom. That way you won't have a bit flopping at the end (because there is no way anyone has a hand big enough to fill that section).Despite how flimsy you may think these things would be, especially for how inexpensive they are, I have used one of the two several times and it shows no sign of wear and tear, I can't imagine I am even going to have to use the other one.Probably one of the best values on Amazon, what a shame that I had to find out this way. ;-)

Good! Serves the purpose.
Liked the fit but it mayn't work for someone with a full cast. I had trigger finger surgery so the protector was suitable for my needs fitting alway up the elbow. It's hard to put this on one handed at first, so gently stretch the opening to make it easier to get it on alone.

a good option
I have to say this product is definitely a good option if you have a cast on your arm and need to protect it during a bath. It is made of a stretchy medium weight plastic fabric that is not bulky thick and cumbersome.the material allows for your hand to move freely inside of a very generously sized glove. Stretch an opening at the top over your arm and cast and upon releasing it tension holds it to your arm. I have a medium-size arm as a woman certainly not skinny and tiny but also not extremely large and I was a little bit concerned as to whether or not the water would stay out without actually applying a little bit of tape over the top to secure it. There was definitely room for a larger arm to use this. I did not tape it and just emerged from my first bath post surgery and while I was careful not to submerge my arm or let the water that did get on it sit too long without wiping it down with a dry towel just to be sure, no water got underneath it. So I was very happy about that. I would be concerned about taking a shower with this on because your arm is hanging down and I can see where there's a tiny little gap at the center of the middle of your arm where it bends at the elbow.its just called by the way your arm bands and it will naturally cause the material to buckle and flex upwards creating a tiny little gap when you move your arm. I read reviews for other products that seem to be made a very heavy gauge plastic and to me this product is probably all that I will need if I were to take a shower I would probably tape it with very heavy tape and just be prepared to throw it away afterwards. The package comes with 2 of the sleeves / gloves. I would be careful about bathing for too long because condensation will form inside just from the moisture heat and steam of bathing. Simply hang them to dry afterwards and I can see that you can get several uses out of each until perhaps the stretch in the plastic may wear out and not hold it tight. All around a great product.
