Tibetan Yoga: Principles and Practices

EXTREMELY practical book!
I've only had the chance to 'flip through' this book - I had to stop after an hour, my neck and back was hurting. It just drew me in.This isn't an instruction manual for either Lujong or Nejang. See "Training the Wisdom Body" by Rose Taylor Goldfield for the first, and "Nejang: Tibetan Self-Healing Yoga" by Dr. Nida Chenagtsang for the second. This book is a brilliant exploration of the View.In just my peek-through, I can tell it is an homage to the vast and intricate teachings of tantric buddhism which honor ancient tibetan thangkhas (which were in themselves instruction manuals to those 'at that level' in practice). Also how those "inner scientists" in Tibet for centuries mastered the mind and beyond - what Western 'pseudo-science' is just now catching a mere glimpse of now with the Quantum-schools and Neuro-schools. The ultimate path - Bardos and beyond - have been assembled through art, photographs, and organized with meaningful explanations of the *experiential aspect of what these movements are doing at the subtle level.I hesitated at first, but now am thrilled to add this to my bookshelf!

Profoundly Illuminating Photos and Contemplations
This is one of those super fun "coffee table" books that you just don't want to put down. It almost reads like an oracle where any page you turn to has the medicine for this moment... practices to seek out through a qualified teacher, timeless mind reflections, spiritual quests to the inner hidden lands of the heart essence, the six yogas of classical mahasiddha teachings and that of clear light knowing... as we all slowing or speedily awaken to this unborn undying essence awareness dance... as the all encompassing reality of bliss being. Thank you so much, Ian Baker for this marvelously written book for the obvious benefit of all beings. heart bliss blessings to you and in all directions.

Beautifully done. Comprehensive and Succinct.
This book is great.Gives a remarkable detailed overview of Tibetan Vajrayana Tradition. This tradition is important because the Indian Tantric Traditions basically died out and their teachings and writings are not comprehensive and detailed. This book gives a great overview without getting lost in details. Also a great coffee table book. Recommended!

A beautiful book
Illustrated with brightly colorful images from books, paintings, cave walls and temple walls. It’s not a hatha yoga type how-to book but rather an illustrated scholarly coverage of every aspect of the topic. It’s a beautiful book.

Bien, pero pues más amor al negocio no hace daño
el libro llego en una caja con otros que pedí, y ninguno venia con una protección o envoltura individual, por lo que llegaron un poco dañados, y es una pena en un libro que no es barato.

Brilliant!
I've only flip through the book and it's wonderful. Absolutely did not buy the book for practical purposes, rather to see the historical context and images in regards to tibetan yoga. Highly recommend this book!

Entrega y embalaje
Excelente libro que continúa la obra del mismo autor: las practicas secretas de yoga y meditación en Tibet, tal como lo representan pinturas encontradas. Un maravilloso legado espiritual.

A real treasure!
A real treasure. Excellent commentary on a subject that is still largely unexplored in the West. The book is illustrated with superb photographs and images from Tibetan sources.

Best for Master piece collection to go through moment by moment
One of the amazing book that my heart desired, with the blend of Shaiva and Buddhist Tantra, giving out the author's life experience in both tradition in the form of mixture of esoteric and high standard texts, images and graphics. The book helps making clear about the confusion of Tantra in the west, what it is really.... It can also be used as a philosophical guide book for the serious practitioners of Tibetan Yoga. My deepest gratitude to Ian to bring this precious gem for the readers. Babu
