A must buy for students preparing for CAT, GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, GATE ,SSC ,IBPS and other bank exams. Review after reading the book
First of all thanks to amazon for the delivery of the book in neat packing. I got the book within 3 days and brought it for Rs92. By watching the price of the book for 1 month on amazon i can tell you that it ranges from Rs118 to Rs66. I have looked for it in flipkart but found better offer in amazon. I am writing this review after 1 month . I have read the book so i think this review will be helpful to you.In the photos the book looks old and front cover bent this is because i took the photo after reading the book. When i got the book it was new and fresh . So no worrys. Go for it ..Now about the book and why you should buy it1. There are many pdf of the book available online of the same book. But this is not a book to read. Instead, work with it. Write in it, talk aloud to it, talk back to it - use your pen or pencil , your voice, not just your eyes and mind. So you will need the hard copy to mark things on it in order to make use of the book to its fullest potential which might be a bit problematic in case of PDF or any form of ebook.2.Students who are preparing to sit for CAT, GMAT, GRE, TOEFL and other such examinations would definitely stand to greatly benefit from this book. Anybody who wants to improve one's vocabulary will also find it very useful.3.The author of the book Norman Lewis, the grammarian from New York who has several other English language books to his credit, 'Word Power Made Easy' has been published by Goyal Publishers and became popular soon after the first edition was released in the year 2009.4.The method used for teaching the vocabulary is not the old school. They use simple step by step method. For eg in the first section master pronunciation system its made sure that the new word learned will be pronunced correctly. Then you have sections likei. How to test your present Vocabularyii. How to talk about personality typesiii. HOw to talk about doctors etc.The interesting thing is that by the end of one section you would have learned around 50 words with ease as they explain to you the root of the word. The meaning of the root and the words formed from that. For eg they explain to you the word egoist from that teach you the meaning of words ego, egocentric, egomaniac, egomaniacal, egotist and how and when to use them. You are asked to do the exercises that follows which make sure you remember the words learned5.The book will just cost rs100 or below. It contains approximately 700 pages. So in terms of price to quantity ratio it is clear winner.6.The book is very light in weight and small in dimensions so easy to hold. The quality of the pages are also very good . The best you will get for a book of this cost.7.Try to do all the exercises given in this book in order . You will surely find the difference once you finish the entire book.
