I love this book. It's wisdom gives me daily guidance.

Written by none other than Jagadguru Shankaracharya. Translation is good but still too difficult for us. This book is not for everybody.

It's good text book to start understand Advaita vedanta. I followed this book with Swami Sarvapriyanada lectures. It's really good and trying to practice techniques which are mentioned in book.

A basic or modest knowledge of Sanskrit in conjunction with an authentic predisposition to metaphysics are definitely required as this edition has substantial contaminations of evolutionary origin. From the foreword (by a certain V. Subrahmanya Iyer) is unequivocally to be deduced that (post)modern science, which is a śūdra creation of the lowest type, constitutes a major method for attaining to the Supreme Knowledge, and that yoga is only a moderately satisfactory one. Buddhi is said to be Reason, whilst it is the Intellect, a very different thing. Beware!
