I love Louisiana and New Orleans has a very special place in my heart. I love everything about Louisiana, especially it cuisine, because it is a diverse and reflects it's melting pot of cultures that have colored its history. I love to cook and while I just received the book and haven't tried any of the recipes, I love how it is organized. The print is easy to read and the directions are simple and easy to understand. The book is organized into categories and offers variations and many choices. Even though it is plastic bound, I find the pages turn easily. There numerous recipes representing all of Louisiana. I purchased this book used and I am impressed with all aspects. I can't wait to try these recipes: Lemon Tequila Souffle, Stuffed Eggplant, and Green Onion and Potato Soup. I love cooking and have for many, many years. I have never crossed paths with recipes like this. Also, this book includes all the well-known dishes associated with this region. The other thing I love about this book is that recipes handed down are included. These recipes are rare jewels. This isn't a coffee table book and it isn't a showy production. What it is, is a cook book with some really awesome recipes.

This would be a wonderful cookbook for someone who didn't already have a library of other cajun cookbooks. I, however, have many from local parrishes in louisiana as well as some from the restaurants featured in this book. Because of this, the material was slightly redundant for me. i should also mention that I have been cooking cajun for > 20 yrs so I had a lot of these recipes down pat w/ my own flavor added. i would definitely buy this book for someone newly married or single, or who was just beginning to cook cajun. the recipes are authentic and awesome, not too difficult.I bought this used but in mint condition so it was a steal. i ended up giving the cookbook to my brother who loves to cook cajun but is recently married and starting a family.

Just what I was looking for. A great collection of real Louisiana recipes. Can't wait to use it next time my son visits. And the seller is wonderful at customer service and relationship.

I bought this because it contained the best praline recipe that I have every tasted. The recipe has been used in my family for years and I thought that since it was so good, the other recipes would not disappoint.

This cookbook is full of wonderful, authentic recipes from a variety of other cookbooks. All of the recipes I have tried have turned out well. The king cake recipe is a sure winner. I owned the print copy for a long time, and thought this would be handy to have in kindle form. Buyer beware, the kindle edition is horribly formatted. Some recipes are nearly impossible to read.

Ich lebte einige Jahre im Südwesten der USA, mit vielen Aufenthalten in Alabama und Lousiana.In disem Kochbuch fand ich viele meiner liebgewordenen Rezepte wieder.Allerdings muss ich anmerken, dass man der englischen (amerikanischen) Sprache mächtig sein sollte.Auch sollte man als deutscher Nutzer eine Umrechnungstabelle griffbereit haben. Oder wissen, wie man entsprechende Maßeinheiten umrechnet.Zu beachten ist auch, dass man etliche Zutaten in Deutschland nur schwer oder gar nicht erhält. Hier ist dann u.U. Fantasie gefragt.Aber, ich bin damit sehr zufrieden.
