You don’t have to attach the arms. I think they are just there if you want the added security.

Q: My husband weighs about 300. Would this bed be able hold him ?

I’m about 350 and it holds me just fine. No issues so far with it.

Q: It says 17" high but it looks much lower. How high from floor to top of mattress?

I just received mine (7/13/23). The 17” is from the top of the arms to the floor. Mattress is 3” thick. It’s 13” from top of mattress to floor.

Q: Is a thicker mattress an option ? And is this a twin size?

A thicker mattress could help but a twin mattress is too wide for this bed. It’s hard to find a mattress that would fits. Try a memory pad . Good luck! This bed is really not comfortable.
