This worked out quite well, previous plastic covers fell apart in less than a year just being exposed to Texas sun. Aluminum cover should take care of that

Dunno how we ended up losing two of these in two different buildings within the space of a month, but I was SHOCKED when I got a quote from our fire safety contractor to replace just one for $75. For that price, you'd think these would be fancier than what amounts to size and slightly thicker metal off the cap of a jelly jar, plus two run of the mill eyebolt screws.After a quick call to my local fire department to confirm there was no special fancy features or unusual replacement requirements that would force me to pay the fire safety folks "COVID Toilet Paper Crisis Exploiter Extortionist" rates, I went off to search the internet rabbit hole for something that wouldn't have me considering selling a spare body part to purchase. Luckily for me I found these pretty reasonably priced but the manufacturer still made a BoatloadaBenjamins on these basic"wanna be Smuckers jelly jar lids".Thanks to Amazon's poor overworked exploited delivery drivers, my caps arrived quickly and were the perfect size. Unfortunately, two of the metal screws were missing but a quick (but annoyingly necessary) trip to Home Depot for replacements, and I was back in business! This was really timely because a building fire alarm was somehow mistakenly triggered by my elevator maintenance company who said they were simply "vacuuming dust and crap off the top of the cab". Scratching you head at that huh? Yup, me too! Dunno what confused me more, why they felt like they needed to vacuum the top of the outside of the cab where no one was gonna look unless they were trying to live out their "gotta escape bad guys by doing some Mission Impossible acrobatics to the top of the elevator, and barely being able to jump off before it crashes down the enoooourmas 4 flight decent" required scene in practically every Bruce Willis movie" -OR- why/how the hell it would set off the fire alarm?!?Anyhoo, it all worked out cause the fire alarm got the firefighters down the street to come hustling over in two fire big firetrucks jam packed smoking hot firefighters, like a Chippendale's version of a firefighter clown car. After being reassured it was a false alarm, I was barely able put my drooling tongue back in my mouth long enough to ask if the covers met code. Or if not, could they slowly strip it off for me...Mixed feelings when they said it was all good and left, lol.So yeah, buy this cover. You might get a good story out of it too.

the price and quality was worth it, vs our local fire sprinkler supplier, they could order for 2/3 more cost plus the shipping. no thanks I will use Amazon to locate
