Shop Tea India Loose Leaf Black Tea Ctc Assam Strong Blend Premium Black Tea Made With Natural Ingredients, Traditional Indian Tea, Caffeine Iced Tea, Breakfast Tea,. Review: I'll start by saying that I was specifically looking for a substitute for (or at least a decent approximation to) Lipton Yellow Label loose tea. I love LYL, but it's become very difficult to find in stores near me, and it's gotten insanely expensive online. I have no idea why, but...whatever...I was looking for a substitute. Tea India CTC Assam came highly recommended, so I tried the 1-pound bag. I'm very happy with the product - it's a perfectly drinkable approximation to LYL. For the price they're asking, this is a fantastic deal. Now, this is a CTC Assam tea. CTC stands for "crush tear curl," and that's how the assam tea leaves are processed. What you get are fine grains or pellets of leaf tea (see photo). The grains are less than 1 millimeter across, so it resembles a coarse ground coffee. I used my standard ratios for making hot tea -- 2.3 - 2.5 grams of loose tea to about 8 US ounces (about 240 milliliters) of boiling water, steep for just under 4 minutes. (For what it's worth, the LYL tea is the same basic thing - it's a CTC style tea, but I think the leaves are Ceylon). This is very solid straightforward tea. Massive amounts of body, nice malty flavor, it tastes like tea. It's a little more astringent than LYL, but that's not a bad thing. This is by no means a subtle tea -- there are no subtle floral overtones with hints of stonefruit etc. etc.. If you're expecting that, you will be disappointed. This is solid, unfancy, tea. And it's very very good for exactly that. Other things you can do with this... --- standard Indian masala chai = some CTC + some cinnamon & clove crushed in a mortar & pestle, steep, serve with milk if desired --- mix in a pinch of lapsang souchong (which is a very smoky Chinese tea) to add a nice smokiness to your cup of tea, great for camping or winter mornings Review: lovely strong basic black. I am no longer buying tea from china due to pollution issues. I mix this with harney and sons in a 1 liter tea kettle infuser. I have been drinking tea for 40 plus years.

The assam tea I ordered is a good tasting tea, it's processed different than other teas i bought before. It's made into small pellets I had to measure smaller amount because it's more concentrated .

i love me some tea, especially black tea. i was in need of some black tea to mix with some herbal tea that i like, because i'd run out of the black tea i had. it smells so wonderful, i had high expectations. i brewed this tea exactly three times: the first time, i brewed it for 5 minutes by accident - normally i aim for 2 or 3 - and it was completely undrinkable because it was so bitter, it tasted like burned acid. what little i did drink made me feel sick to my stomach. the second time, the water was not quite hot enough, so even though it sat for 5 minutes there was no black tea flavor. the third time, i managed to forget again, and it brewed for 7 minutes. again the tea was incredibly bitter and nauseating. i'm really disappointed because i wanted it to taste like it smells. other black teas i have are far more forgiving about temperature and time brewed, and i have to really ignore a pot for it to be ruined.

I bought this for the sole purpose of brewing milk tea. Just 1 tsp of tea, 6-8oz of water, a little sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk makes a perfectly smooth cup of milk tea. Please be aware before ordering that this is CTC (crush tear curl) tea which you can say is pretty granulated, similar looking in texture to instant coffee. Any low reviews complaining about the tea being like dust, finely ground, etc. should read a little closer before purchasing. This is clearly labeled as CTC loose leaf tea. This tea makes a strong cup, a little goes a long way, if you know how to brew it then it shouldn't turn out absurdly bitter. Assam tea is a strong and bold black tea, perfect for milk tea, masala chai, or straight up.
