Overall, this category is surprisingly tough to find a quality product at a good value. Of all the food tents we ordered for an upcoming party, these were only one of two designs that weren't defective in some way either in workmanship or design. One of the two "pop-up quad-tent" designs we ordered broke/jammed right out of the package even though we gently pulled the string, and the big table-top tent we tried "looked so cool" and had great reviews, but it took more than 5 minutes to set up and then we realized it didn't have anything to hold the big flap up... so with one hand you're holding your plate, with your other hand you're lifting the flap up, and then with your 3rd hand you can serve yourself food. Yeah, we don't know anyone with 3 hands either, so it went back. These are better. Simply designed, they are held flat with an elastic band that just slides off. No mechanical parts, no zippers, no poles to get stuck or broken. To access the food you lift them off and set them aside...no fancy flaps to get in the way. The reasons 4 not 5 stars is that (1) only one of them is actually large enough to cover a serving plate/bowl (and a small one at that). The packaging on ours says they are 16.5, 14.5 and 12.5 " diameter, but no way. The three tents we received are 15", 13", and 11" diameters, (2) they are on the more-expensive side for what they are (just some mesh with trim), (3) we found the picnic buffet server was a throw-away since it leaked air within minutes; but we liked the tents enough to keep despite that and will order more to make up for the fact we had to return the other designs. Another downside is (4) that while they fold flat, they don't collapse like the other designs which fold like umbrellas, so they are not as portable as the quad-tents or even the big table-top-tent (which has poles and slots and assembles like a sleeping tent). They fold flat, but at a 15" diameter they aren't fitting nicely in most backpacks or baskets for a picnic. Still, these were the best of the selection we tried if you just want to keep bugs off in a backyard setting. Just keep in mind if picnic/backback portability is a concern probably go with the quad-tent designs and cross your fingers (one of the two canopy tent designs/brands did work ok/wasn't broken out of the box). Also, seems self-evident from the picture, but they do not have a bottom; they rely on whatever surface you place them on to close off access. So if you're on an uneven surface (a picnic blanket on the ground) it will keep flies from landing on your food, but maybe not from crawling in from underneath unless you have it on a smooth surface. I suggest using a serving plate with food safely in the middle (say a 2" clearance from food to where tent will rest), then place this directly on the plate. You might get a little food on the mesh, but these are easy to wash, and the smooth plate will keep the most common picnic menaces from crawling under. I can't stand insects on my friends' and family's food, so I spent a lot of time researching food tents, then selecting, and then being amazed at how hard it was just to get some that were functional in design and not broken on arrival. We have a camper and go camping a lot and nothing is more annoying then bugs messing with your food. I got this product in exchange for an honest review and now they are permanently in the trailer. They are a really good size so even if you have a large dish they still cover it. We have absolutely put this babies to work and I recommend them for any picnic or even if you are just having company in your back yard.

My family and friends do a lot of picnics and communal camping cooking. The inflatable buffet works well for when we have items that need cooling (potato salad,coleslaw) but we don't want to leave them in the cooler. The covers are nice at keeping food bug-free. They work great for bowls of fruit and cakes, as they are nice and high.

I received this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I cannot wait until the summer barbecues begin! These are great size and they fit our plates. The mash is fine enough that no bugs will be able to get in there. And they are fun summer colors.
