2 piece Kubotan by amathingsWhat is a Kubotan?A Kubotan is a short rod that is used as a so-called force amplifier and is mainly used for self defence and in martial arts, such as Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, ATK or Kobudo. The Kubotan is also known under other names, such as palm stick, power stick, nerve stick, tessen, persuader, self defence stick and many more. How do you use the Kubotan? The Kubotan should be held in your fist so that both ends are sticking out a little bit from either side.Striking mechanics: when performing a blow with the amathings Kubotan, the force behind it is multiplied severalfold. This means that even light strikes have an enormous impact. Impact mechanics: if you find yourself in a predicament, you can thrust the Kubotan firmly into the pressure points of your attacker. This will then inevitably force the attacker into releasing the victim. The optimum effect is achieved by utilising any of the roughly 250 pressure points on the body (e.g. the back of the knee, armpits, inner thigh). If you do this, then the amathings Kubotan is one of the most effective and simple self defence weapons that exists..Including its key chain, the amathings Kubotan is 16 cm long. The stick itself is 14 cm long. Therefore, it is small and fits easily in the palm of any hand. Even for those men and women that have smaller hands. The Kubotan is manufactured from high quality aluminium, allowing for maximal stability at a weight of only 50 grams.Additionally, the Kubotan can also be used as an emergency hammer. This version of the Kubotan is 100% legal in Germany. The purple one saved me from an attacker
They are each minorly different in size. Some are also pointier than others that are more dull-tipped. I held each a few times before deciding I was most comfortable with the way the purple one felt in my hand. Plus it looks pretty harmless like a keychain. I was assaulted by a man who wanted my food and after running away yelling for help the man chased me down and kept attacking me. I have no idea how to fight and took a vow of nonviolence 10 years ago, but I had to hit the guy with this thing twice. Once in the nose, once in the rib. After the hit in the nose he immediately stopped attacking me but I was already hitting him once in the rib too. He wapked away citing his nose being "too bloody to fight any more". At that moment I could have nailed him in the back and permanently injured him, but I didn't, even though he hit me when I was running away. As such I consider my vow of nonviolence to be in tact. The police arrested him, not me, and all was well in the jungle.

Hope I never have to use it.
I do home-visiting for my job, so I wanted to make sure I had something for protection without the risk of carrying pepper spray around kids. The pink is cute and it isn't too imposing on my key chain. The whistles unscrew to hold a paper with your personal information, but both of mine would unscrew through everyday use and so I've already lost the actual whistle part.

Should have included a bracelet or something
it would have been nice if they would have included some sort of bracelet or elastic to hang them on but honestly they are great. Be careful with the whistle it is to pieces and will come apart on its own as you walk if it is around your neck

nice light weight kubotan for smaller hands
nice light weight kubotan for smaller hands. I personally would like it to have a little more girth and weight. But over all good product.

Exactly what I wanted. One kubotan is on my key ring, the other and the whistle on my hiking pack.

Three Stars
not very useful because the spikes are dull and too large to keep comfortably in pocket.
