It works great, make sure the O-RIng lands on a smooth, scratchless section of pipe.
Value: ★★☆☆☆I needed to install three gas lines to a grill, fireplace, and one for tiki torches. I dug the trench myself, called a plumber for an estimate and he said he would throw the pipe in for $1,100 and sign off on the job for the inspector. I figured I would use HomeFlex and do it myself to save some money. I spent nearly $800 since all the fittings are ridiculous and risers are $50 - $70. Make sure you check with your plumber since they will use electrofusion for their pipe and forego all the expensive fittings. The fusion fittings are also much more robust and reliable, in my opinion.Quality: ★★★★☆I had a total of 12 fittings on my job. Everything worked great until I pressure tested the last line and had a small (2 pounds overnight) leak somewhere—note that this still would pass code as there was no noticeable fall after 10 minutes. I located it and found out that the O-ring in this fitting landed on the code stamp on the HomeFlex pipe which has a depression in it, this did not allow the O-Ring to create a gas-tite seal at 15psi . I couldn't just cut the pipe as I needed to take off nearly 4" to get to a stampless section of the pipe, so I put a tiny bit of pipe dope, Rectorseal 5, inside the fitting and it worked like a charm. Held at 15 psi for 3 days with around a 3/4 pound difference between night and day due to expansion and contraction.Overall Rating:★★★★☆Carefully calculate how much your materials will cost because I was surprised how expensive everything turned out to be in comparison to my quote. Just because it was DIY I didn't save all that much, the real cost savings is in the trench digging.Recommend to a friend?: ✔ Yes, if you have a small run especially, this system might be perfect for you. Check your codes and pull a permit.Would buy again?: ✔ Yes, If I had a small run I needed to add. It's pretty simple to use.A good gift idea?: ✘ Not really sure when you'd want to gift these.
