My Preferred Cloth Diapering Solution
My wife and I have tried three different brands of cloth diapers and we finally stuck with the Econobum diapers. Of all the diapers we have tried, these are the only ones that do not leak. Our son is a heavy wetter and the other two brands we tried leaked about 3-4 times a day.We have 21 of these diapers and 7 covers. That is enough to get us through 48 hours of changes before we have to wash the diapers. We wash the diapers on a hot/cold cycle in our washing machine and dry them on medium/low heat (hang the covers to dry). When the laundry is done, these diapers are soft and odorless. We have never had any issues with these diapers smelling or giving off any odors. One thing to mention here is that these diapers, when soiled with urine, will likely have a moderate to strong ammonia smell. I remedy that by adding 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar to the wash after the water level has risen above the diapers. The ammonia smell goes away instantly and the diapers will not have a vinegar smell. (One other maintenance tip for these diapers is to attach a diaper sprayer to your toilet and spray off any remaining fecal matter on the diaper.) If you are not comfortable with handling soiled diapers (this is one of the arguments I hear against cloth diapering), simply purchase a pair of cleaning gloves. You'll never have to touch a dirty diaper with your bare hands. These diapers are a good size. They should fit a newborn, perhaps a bit bulky, and last through potty training. Durability and longevity should not be a concern either, as they are made of thick, quality cotton and are well put together. We have been using our Econobum diapers for over 9 months, being washed 3 times per week, and none of the stitches have come undone, nor have any of the edges frayed.Another good thing about these diapers is the cost. For about $12, you can get 3 diapers and one cover, which means for $120, you could have 30 diapers and 10 covers. That is enough diapers for one child, and that's all you would need for the little one. Since these diapers are so well made, I would be willing to bet they would last through a second child. Compare that cost with having to constantly buy disposable diapers, even for only one child. With these diapers, I would also recommend buying some Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteners. They do well in holding the prefold diapers in place on your child.I rated these diapers 4 stars because they do have one weak point. The cover that comes with the set is made of thin material and you can sometimes feel moisture seep through it. They do repel moisture as they should, but they do have a tendency to absorb some of that moisture. The packaging claims that the covers are leak proof. I would agree with that so long as you have the diapers on properly; however, the thin material of the cover can allow a little bit of that moisture to seep through to the child's clothing. It is uncommon for this to happen, but it does happen. It doesn't happen enough for me to not recommend these diapers to parents interested in using cloth diapers for their children. (Sweet Pea Diapers makes a cover that is made of material that is noticeably thicker than the Econobum covers. I've never had moisture seep through the Sweet Pea cover we have.)Despite the occasional, slight moisture seepage, these diapers are a very good solution for cloth diapering. I highly recommend them. Well, I'm off to change another diaper.

Good in theory, bad in practice
**Update**I've changed this from 2 to 3 stars. I never ended up liking the prefolds. I never thought to put them on like prefolds are meant to be until my child was too big for it. Padfolding and laying in a cover is just too bulky.I have used this cover as a back up on and off since purchasing it two years ago. It has not held up well to my light use, so it is definitely not made to last through more than one child. That being said, I think that for the price, it is worth it to use as a cover. I can't recommend the prefolds, since I've never successfully used them, but the covers aren't bad. I've used them over flat diapers and it was just fine. If you want a cheap, American-made, one-size cover that will do the job, this is your best bet.**Original**I loved the idea of cloth diapering from the beginning. When I discovered these diapers, I thought that if I could diaper my kid from birth to potty training for only $100, it would be a miracle and I'd never look back to disposables. It took me some time to finally start a cloth diaper stash, but when I did, these were the first ones I bought. I'll just say that I am grateful I only bought the trial pack, and not the kit.The prefolds are made of natural fiber, so they need to be prewashed several times before the naturally occurring oils are washed away and it becomes absorbent. I have, since receiving these, washed them 4 times, and they are STILL not absorbent. I've gotten to the point where I don't even want to bother anymore! As for the cover, it is obviously a cheaply made cover. It's flimsy, not very stretchy around the straps, and thin. I decided to give it a try with a flip insert, to see if I could at least use SOMETHING from my trial pack. It's on the baby right now, and I hate that too. It will definitely always be at the bottom of my stash from now on. It was very difficult to get a snug fit on him, the insert ended up in a completely different position from where it began, and it is bulky looking. The snaps easily came undone while I was trying to situate him, and that made my task even more difficult. The idea behind these diapers was great. Cloth diapering is almost always the cheaper route, when done right. To keep the cost under $100 is remarkable. But they are pretty inconvenient as far as having to wait forever for them to be properly prewashed (if ever), and the flimsy cover not holding the insert in place well either. Add in the annoying buttons and inability to keep it snug to prevent leaks makes this my least favorite cloth diapering system, and something that I can't recommend to anyone based on my own experience.

Great for overnights
I chose this item because of the price...I wanted to try some washable a without paying a ton. In the end these ended up being my 2nd favorite (after Flips). My only complaint is that sometimes when I am unsnapping him I am afraid I will rip it because it seems thinner than others I have. It has not done so - I just feel like it will sometimes. They are plain but if your baby is wearing them under clothes what does that matter? The inner diaper is bulky but if you play with it you can get it to not be as noticeable...the inners start fitting better around 10lbs. I can deal with the bulk because they have never leaked, unlike others. I have used the inners in other outer shells just so I don't have leaks. Also they have yet to stain (again unlike the other thinner inners). The outer shell is water-resistant/proof. I love the inside lining- unlike Alva & Kawaii it has a lining you can see is water-resistant/proof (same as my Flips). The Alvas and Kawaiis I have are fabric inside and seem to absorb some of the urine so I feel I have to change their outer every pee, unlike these. With these, if they feel damp, I can just take a wipe and clean the inside of the outer shell. The outer shell fits better than others as well.Overall while they are a bit bulky, they have never leaked and they fit better than most others I have. When we decided to really invest in the washable diapers I bought a bigger pack of these! These are a good deal and I would recommend them to everyone.
