The ultimate expert guide to plants in Arabia.
I bought this book for friends in Dubai who enjoy gardening and farming. It makes a wonderful elegant gift.for the serious gardener, amateur.gardener or student. You will find everything you need to know to grow the right plants successfully in Arabia or desert landscapes.I also have a copy myself on my coffee table and although I no longer live in Arabia I still enjoy looking at the wide variety of plants that can be successfully grown there. It is a large book, but set out elegantly and clearly.

Wonderful book - Anne Love Gardening in Oman and the UAE
I have been looking forward to owning this book as its a 'one stop' reference book for virtually all the plants grown in the region, rather than having to consult 6 or 7 books looking for information. It's beautifully, informative, easy reading and authoritative. Congratulations to Julian Lee.The Horticultural Association Of Oman has purchased a copy for the Public Knowledge Library in Qurum to make it accessible to a wide audience.A small niggle, it's physically hard to handle weighing 4.5 Kg, 2 or even 3 volumes would have been better.

Landscape Plant of Arabia
A very good book for landscaping in arid areas. Very good notes accompaning each plnat species. Well written and well illustrated. The downside of it is that it is a very heavy book to carry around - literally.Landscape plants change all the time - and such a weighty book will loose its importance if it is difficult to use because of its weight.

A tome for the times
Climate change, old traditions, a modern look, a VERY heavy source. "The book to go to" for all those who live in arid, or semi-arid areas and want to know how, what, where. Warmly recommended.

How Green can Green Get?
In an arid desert region, how green can green really get? Julian Lee's magnificent achievement confirms that, given enough information, there are few limits to what can be achieved. And comprehensive information is what this impressively substantial tome is all about. There are detailed notes on the what and when, and the how and why of horticulture in places where water isn't always freely available. I had no problem with the weight (10 beefy pounds) but would have preferred it if the helpful indexes were at the front and not the back of the main text. `Landscape Plants of Arabia' will be the last word on regional botany for decades to come - it's always a privilege to witness the birth of a definitive work.
