Hunt’s Tomato Puree, Perfect for Chili & Soups, 29 oz. Can

Always delicious and a good quality product. I feel it is a good value.

It is a can of puréed tomatoes. Upon opening, it smells like ripe tomatoes. It is perfect when you want simple unseasoned tomato without seeds. Smooth, but not watery. Great for using with diced tomatoes and seasonings in home made pasta sauce. Add a tablespoon of tomato paste if you want a thicker sauce.

Note this is puree, not sauce or paste. It lacks most of the seasoning in pizza sauce, for example. So this is useful if you want to add your own amount of salt and seasonings.

Besides the few cans that were petty dented, everything else was fine

I like tomato puree better than tomato sauce, because it is nothing but pure tomatoes in thick liquid form. The makers of tomato sauce, on the other hand, have been adding spices and peppers, which I sometimes want to avoid. It is easy enough to add my own spices, either dried or fresh, to get the flavor I want. The puree also seems a little thicker than the sauce. The flavor is good. Texture is smooth, with no seeds. I'm disappointed that recently the price has risen so much.
