Fantastic coat! You won’t be disappointed.
This is a fantastic coat and will keep you very warm in really cold temperatures. It’s Columbia so there’s no doubts about the quality and design. I tend to run hot so the zippered underarm vents are really nice when I need to let some heat escape. I’m giving this 5-stars, but the hood can be better. Some fur lining would be nice to help capture rain or snow to deflect it off your face.

"Winter-Ready"
The Columbia Men's Whirlibird IV Interchange Jacket exceeded my expectations during a recent December trip to Italy, where temperatures ranged from -5 to 2 degrees Celsius. This jacket is a true winter warrior! Its waterproof and breathable design kept me comfortably warm, even with just a T-shirt underneath. The versatility of the interchange system allowed me to adapt to varying conditions effortlessly. Whether strolling through historic streets or facing chilly winds, this jacket proved to be a reliable and stylish companion. Columbia has nailed it with a perfect blend of functionality and comfort—highly recommended!

2 (warm) jackets in one!
I live in New England and need to stay warm on fall days and on days that are a -15 degree blizzard and this jacket fits that bull perfectly. I use the shell when it's above 20 degrees and I throw on the outer shell when it gets really cold out. The inner powder coat is warm but the material is weak and prone to ware and rips. The outer shell is the complete opposite from the inner shell, it's rugged material that I trust to take a thrashing and it does it while holding in all the warmth underneath. I like the tapered fit the coat offers my 6' athletic frame. Overall is rate this jacket a 10/10.

Nice jacket
I own a Columbia Alpine Action jacket which I really like. I am a huge fan of the Omni-Heat insulation, and its just a great winter coat. I also own an Omni-Heat Crested Butte II jacket that I wear under a Gore-Tex shell when things are really wet and cold. Anyway my teenage son needed a winter coat and wanted one without bulky insulation so I started looking into the different Columbia Omni-Heat offerings. I considered getting him an Alpine Action coat, but then saw that the Whirlibird had a removable liner as well as pit zips which the Alpine Action lack so I thought we'd give it a try. It seems like a pretty nice jacket and my son is happy with it. The only slight negative is that the main zipper is a little small/light. It's holding up fine, but I like to see something heavier as the main zipper on a coat intended for winter sports. It loses one star for this. Otherwise it seems like a good coat at a very reasonable price, and the vents and removable liner make it an excellent option for changing weather.

Keep Toasty in this lightweight jacket!
I've owned Columbia 2-in-1 jackets for a long time. They just keep getting lighter and warmer. This one's getting to the point I wish it wasn't so dang warm! I go out to run the snow blower and drop 5lbs sweating I swear! This would be great to be out all day skiing. Pair it with the right snow pants, gloves, and hat and you could survive Hoth! Great construction....though there's pockets and zippers on this that just don't make sense to me. Not really great for fall/spring use unless you take off the shell and wear one of the two parts.

Best 3-in-1 winter jacket I've ever bought.
So, up front, the one thing I miss is a removable hood. But the features on this jacket make that negligible. Not having a "soft" lining, I was worried I'd want to wear a long sleeve fleece shirt or something under this to avoid either that "sticky from sweating" or "cold from the jacket sitting in my car until I put it on" experiences I've had with other jackets, even from Columbia. I haven't had those issues. The vents under the arms keep me from over-heating and even though I'm used to more pockets in my Columbia jackets, these are spacious enough that I don't need more. I bought a bigger size than I thought I absolutely needed because I didn't want to measure and guess what I might wear under it (If I'd need a sweatshirt for more warmth or a fleece for a softer or more absorbent feel) but that wasn't necessary. Not disappointed with some extra length but their sizes seem accurate.

men's winter waterproof adjustable jacket
I purchased the camo version of this jacket 6 months ago and loved it so much that when the jackets went on sale for 1/2 price, I had to have another color scheme. I love how it is waterproof and wind proof. I love how I can wear just the waterproof outer shell or stay warm with just the inner omni-heat jacket that blends with many different colors of clothing.
