Fits Great while expanding connection options
I purchased the SmallRig Canon M50 Cage and I have to say, I am impressed with its quality and functionality. The build quality of the cage is fantastic, it feels solid and durable. It provides great protection for my Canon M50 camera and at the same time, it does not add much weight to the camera making it easy to carry around. The cage fits the camera snugly and securely, I never have to worry about my camera coming loose during use.The cage has a variety of mounting points for accessories, making it easier for me to attach different devices to my camera setup. The included NATO rail and cold shoe mount are especially useful for me.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of the SmallRig Canon M50 Cage. It is well worth the investment for anyone looking to protect their camera while adding versatility to their setup. I highly recommend this product to any Canon M50 owner.

Fits well
I have not dropped my camera and hopefully never will, so I cannot comment on how well the frame protects the body. However, after some use, I can give a review on the fit of the frame and the comfort of it on my Canon M50.I noticed when buying this that many people were commenting that the rig was made for a M5 and that a M50 was slightly too small which caused it to move a little within the frame which would eventually lead to the mounting screw coming loose. Many people posted solutions to this in the review section on how to fix it by putting another point of contact between the camera body and the frame. I purchased this knowing that I may need to utilize one of these DIY fixes, but to my surprise when I put it on my body, it fit like a glove. There is no wiggle in the camera when mounted on and it feels very secure. Maybe smallrig updated their frame size to better accommodate the Canon M50?In terms of comfort, I have relatively small hands, so the small body of the Canon M50 felt pretty comfortable in my hands even though some people, especially those that have used bigger bodied DSLR cameras before may feel that the body is uncomfortably small in their hands. This is a great solution for that since the groove around the battery makes the grip much larger and really gives you a much larger area to grasp. My only complaint is that it is pure steel all the way around the frame including in the grip area which covers much of the nice rubbery grip of the camera's body. This means that you trade in the grippyness of the grip for a larger sized grip. You can always DIY fix this by putting some type of adhesive there by yourself, but it would have been a nice touch for smallrig to add something to make the grip feel just that much more secure.I would highly recommend this product, especially if you are planning to mount many things to your camera as it gives you and extra shoe mount and many other places to add accessories.

Transforms the M50
I use the EOS M50 primarily for still photography and was finding it awkward to use due to its small size and light weight. I kept accidentally pushing buttons as I was positioning it in the tripod or moving the back screen. It was driving me crazy and I was considering returning the camera. This has transformed the M50. There's now a better, more secure grip and the camera has added weight so it feels solid and less fragile. There's easy access to swing the battery door and the bottom rail serves as a plate that fits into my arca Swiss clamp. This works well for me and I'm happy.I experienced a slight wiggle until I did the simple & quick "gaffer tape" fix as mentioned by another reviewer and now it's solid as a rock. This has been a positive addition and I'm quite satisfied with the rig. Plus, I am all set if I decide to use it for video.

Great rig, simple repair for loose fitting camera.
Very well made unit however there has been many complaints about the M50 camera having some play within the cage, when I received mine and installed my camera I too discovered the slight play (looseness) within the camera and cage, I looked at where the camera touches the cage and noticed some raised ribs on the bottom of the camera around the threaded tripod hole, these are there to keep the camera in place when mounted on a traditional tripod, I simply took my Dremel tool with a small sanding drum and cleared about a postage stamp sized recess about 1/16" deep around the inside mounting point of the cage and created a small recess, this now allows the camera to sit flat inside of the cage with absolutely no wobble at all, once you've made the recess you can simply color it in with a black sharpie. Really quick, simple and effective fix.

Best fit is on M5 - Fix for the M50 Wiggle
The cage itself is fantastic: adds enhanced grip on M5/M50, a bit of protection for the frail camera body, plenty of areas to attach accessories, etc. What many are noticing with the M50 in particular is that there is a bit of wiggle that works the screw loose after some use. I noticed this as well, but also noticed there was zero wiggle on my M5. Close examination showed the M50 is slightly thinner than the M5 by about 1mm on the base, and maybe 2mm on the grip. Clearly this cage was designed for the M5 as it fits like a glove with no wiggle. The M50 is very close in its dimensions, but not perfectly, so you get the wiggle.***The screw is not the issue.*** The gaps are what cause the wiggling of the screw loose. The fix I came up with was to put 3 pieces of gaffer tape on the lower portion of bracket where the base of the camera sits, and 6 pieces of gaffer tape on the piece that should butt up against the grip. Please see my pics for reference. This works like a charm, basically making the M50 the same size of M5, and there is no wiggle at all. You will instantly feel that it is more solid. I have also attached heavy L lenses to the M50 after this fix, and still no wiggle!I would have given this 5 stars if were not for the fact that it is not really a perfect fit for the M50, but rather the M5. There honestly should be a variant for the M50's smaller dimensions.
