Q: Can this be installed over tile ?

Yes. Haven Mech can be installed on tile. This installation process will take a little longer than normal. First, you have to use a special drill bit to drill through tile. Then, you probably have concrete underneath so you will need a masonry drill bit to get through the concrete. To secure Haven into the concrete, we suggest Concrete Screws or Wedge Anchors.

Q: I need the dimensions for the actual product to make sure it will both fit under my door and prevent it from opening when activated

Haven Mech is .8 inches when it is in the unlocked position. When it is locked, it raises to 1.5 inches. Ideally, the locking gate should overlap with at least .25 inches of your door when in the locked position. If the distance from the floor to the bottom of your door is greater than 1.25 inches, we suggest using a riser to lift the lock up to the appropriate height. We make the riser and you can order them from us directly at havenlock.com. If for some reason the distance between your floor and bottom of your door is less than .8 inches, you may need to shorten your door very slightly. We have done this for many customers.

Q: Does the $179 mech version use a key fob for opening the lock from outside of the door? i'm not referring to bluetooth.

The Mech version is a manual lock that can only be locked from the inside while home. The key fob works with the Connect via BT technology. I have one of each on my home and we use the Connect on the door we always enter and exit from. Use the Mech on the back door. Hope this helps!!

Q: Will HavenLock protect my home while I am away?

The standard version is manually operated so if no one is home, it will not. I think the remote styled lock ships in December. From what I understand, it will basically Bluetooth with your smart phone so you can exit your door and manipulate the lock. You can see it on their website. I love the standard version of the lock and look forward to getting the remote version on my back door so I can set all of them when leaving the house.
