Full Spectrum UVA + UVB Sun Lamp Self-Ballasted Vapor Lamp/Bulb/Light for Reptile and Amphibian Use

First, I am using this not as the manufacturer intends, and it may be hazardous, so I do not mean this as advice to follow. That said. This is an excellent sun lamp, I am using it on myself to fight the winder sadness. I’m using it in the high wattage fixture from the same brand, I’ve installed it above my bed and plugged it into a timer. It turns on in the morning with my alarm and helps me pretend it’s not so dark outside. First day I underestimated its power and gave myself a mild sunburn through excessive lazing, the thing definitely works. I’ve done my best to install it far from any surfaces or objects and secure it well, it is a fire hazard after all. Having used similar lights for similar reasons in the past, I was pleasantly surprised that this one isn’t quite as obscenely bright, and it’s got this pretty quality that’s hard to explain. Makes colors pop extra. I also appreciate the safety feature of it not being able to turn on again for several minutes after first turning off, to prevent the damage I’ve accidentally done to other lights in the past. It might not cure the winter sadness, but it sure makes it a bit warmer and more hopeful.

I am not sure why this bulb got bad reviews from some people; it is an excellent bulb that out performs most other mercury vapor bulbs that I have purchased from major brand names. It provides excellent warm and when measured with a UVB meter has extremely high UV readings, even through a mesh top at 18 inches. I believe that individuals whom posted negative reviews for the bulbs heat output may not exactly realize how mercury vapor bulbs work and that heat output is also affected due to ambient room temperature and placement within the habitat ( if your room is air confined and cold, of course the bulb will not be as hot in the enclosure as in a 70 degree room. In addition, If the bulb is elevated to high above the enclosure, you will lose heat because heat rises. I have used mercury vapor bulbs for over 25 years in all my reptile habitats and can honestly say this bulb is definitely one of the best.

Great bulb. Works perfect just like the high dollar ones in the local pet store. So glad I found these.

I bought these 2 pack of bulbs after doing the research on the correct light to get for my turtles. Both lamps are rated for higher than 100w so I figured this would be ok. One bulb still is working one bulb has STOPPED working and its only been 2 weeks. Very disappointed and feel cheated for my money as these bulbs are not cheap and are described to last many hours. FYI my lamps are never touched, bumped or handled except to be turned on and off. Seller please contact me asap. *UPDATE* Seller sent me a new bulb and so far so good. These bulbs are great and work well. I updated to 4 stars because of customer service and bulbs working for now. They do give a true spectrum of light and give off good heat. Would buy again if needed.

I've got this on a cage Im growing out some baby iguanas in.... The first picture shows a size comparison - they were all +/- maybe a third of each others size and a couple of them have grown A LOT faster so thats whats up with that- What it does tell me is that they are growing and the conditions are right ( why some grow faster - no idea.... I got these things wild caught from UGR so who knows) As others have said do NOT enclose this bulb. I have it open to the whole cage in a mesh guard and screen top above it. You do not want to enclose it because during the day this bulb alone can put the area around it near 100F- I have a heat emitter on a thermostat which comes on basically only at night to keep it from getting too cool on the warm side - because this thing does double duty as a space heater believe me . Thats a GOOD thing, you WANT a hot basking area- you almost cant go too hot unless youve got this light close than 10" to the animals- But dont cook them and make sure they have a nice cool side - for some reason a lot of people have not figured out the sun/shade dynamic with their reptiles which they would have in the wild and they rely on. overall though the bulb is decent for the money, its def putting out UV and the iguanas are growing and basking and using it. I have another bigger version of this bulb I use on a bearded dragon enclosure and its ALSO good so far but I've had it for less time so I am waiting before I review it.

Light worked great for almost 3 weeks. Was never moved and set on a 10 hour timer.

So far, no issues. Good value to cost ratio! I have purchased the name brands in the reptile industry at much higher costs. I will update the review should circumstances change. It is imperative to understand the inherent properties of a mercury vapor bulb before your expectations are determined. 1) MV bulbs generate a lot of heat and are intended to be used with open, wire cage type light fixtures. The exception would be a large, high dome fixture. Excessive heat in a small dome fixture is detrimental to the life/performance of the bulb. 2) The bulb has built in safety features. If you turn the bulb off and then on again, it will not immediately light up. It will take a few minutes. 3) If the bulb is on and gets jostled or bumped around, the light will automatically turn off. Again, another safety feature. Wait approximately 10 minutes and it will illuminate on its own again. I cannot discredit negative reviews/experiences with this product. However, I must consider that the above mentioned phenomena could be relevant. I hope this information will be helpful when you set your expectations.

These are the best lights for my bearded dragon. It gives the best heat level for the perfect time. I have noticed they last about 3-4 months long.

Decent price and delivery. Works well with my bearded dragon setup. Good lifespan but I would always prefer more.

Price a bit high.
