A great product!
Very nice quality, and despite what other reviews say, very easy to assemble. A handsome and classy piece.

The stand fell apart in less than a year
We are very disappointed in this fire pit. The stand fell apart in less than a year, making the whole thing obsolete. Poorl. made.

A disappointment...
My hubby and I have been wanting a fire pit for a while, so when this popped up on amazon vine to review, I ordered it right away.Unfortunately, we are both disappointed. I'm commenting on the product description:"Simple design make set-up a breeze" My husband set this up, and he said this is absolutely true. He said it took longer to get rid of the packaging than it did to set up. Note that the box it comes in is fairly heavy."Steel bowl with a polished metal finish" This is exactly as described. It's a decent enough design, but didn't really excite me."Heavy duty spark guard cover included to prevent sparks from flying" Unfortunately, we never got to test an actual fire - it's been raining like crazy! However, just looking at the guard makes this seem true."Protective vinyl cover included to prevent rain or leaves from entering when not in use". Okay, the cover smells bad. It also looks funny - like a big shower cap - and takes forever to put on. Once on, the whole thing just looks ridiculous. Also, there were already holes in the cover when it came out of the box, and the seam where the top of the cover meets the bottom of the cover is not well put together. We also feel that the wire in the bottom should sit a little higher to allow for more wood. The most disappointing thing? It's already rusty all around the rim and the inside. (And that was after the first rain. Now it's even worse.) I don't think this will last all summer, much less for several years, and for that kind of price, you expect a good quality product.

Works fine for us in the end
This fire pit comes with all you see in the picture, plus a tool so you can lift the lid once the fire is lit a vinyl cover to protect it. So assembly is easy, if you do it the right way the first time, lol. My husband is great at assembly required projects and has even built many wonderful things from scratch. My husband looked at the pieces and said "this doesn't make sense" they way they have the bolt, screw, and washer connect to the bowl so he put it together the way he thought it should be, and it was wobbly. Then, he figured out the legs have to be on a certain side for the base to fit so that it has a stable base. So, he took it apart and put it back together, and it holds together fine. Unlike other reviewers, it hasn't moved on its own or made noise, despite recent bad weather so ours seems stable. I agree with one reviewer being puzzled by the suggestion of sand at the bottom of the bowl, when it has holes in the bowl. We put tiny stones. Perhaps they don't want you to put a fire directly in the fire pit, but that seems to me to defeat the purpose for some people to have to buy extra things for it to be safe. We already had the tiny stones. When I read about not putting it on the deck and then what they said about sand, it made me wonder if they said those things so people can't sue them, lol. We got it for free because I review for Amazon vine, so can't speak whether it is worth the cost, but those that paid for it seem to think not. It looks great, but of course you want to be able to use a fire pit safely. I will send updates if anything happens to the product after we have used it more times. So to recap for us it is stable, looks great, and is usable.

It was broken before I could put together no response from support
Frame was kinked slightly not allowing me to properly assemble, attempted to nudge it slightly causing metal to break in half, missing pieces to also level said broken frame. As per manual emailed manufacturer to go more then six business days without so much as a response which was mentioned by other reviews.

Beautiful look, easy to assemble and use
The bowl is 28" in diameter and 27.5" high. This is big enough for a small/medium wood fire, and the bowl is made for use with charcoal, wood, and self-starting fire logs. When the fire pit is assembled, the bowl rim is at about knee-height.I used to own a heavy but movable rectangular metal fire pit. You accessed it by side doors that were tilted to form a V top and didn't open widely (though they could be removed). That design made it awkward to put more wood on the fire or to reach in to cook potatoes or such. But the open design of this fire bowl makes it very easy to use.The mesh wire dome spark guard was fine enough to keep ash in, high enough not to warp from heat unless you make a big fire, and easy to remove with the provided removal tool which can probably double as a poker. The dome spark guard sits in a 1" depression on the inside edge of the fire bowl rim so that a strong gust of wind or small dog can't easily knock the cover off.The bowl also came with a small, circle, black-coated grill. It sits about 1.5" off the bowl's bottom at the deepest point. This seems pretty low to me, especially if you put the 1" of sand on the bottom, as recommended, for even heat distribution. But I don't use grills. My brother, who does, said he liked that low height because once the coals are at a good cooking heat then you don't want the food too far away from them. The fire bowl also came with a vinyl cover that you can put over your (not-hot) spark guard and fire bowl to protect them from the weather. This cover wasn't a struggle to put on yet still fit snugly over the rim of the fire bowl. The fire bowl/pit is also easy enough to move and assemble that you can take it down or move it out of the weather to protect it from rusting. For those who haven't used something like this before: hot fires will warp the metal screen, use will discolor the metal inside the bowl, and the paint will eventually wear off. The directions do tell you how to clean and shine the bowl up and re-paint the screen if looks are important to you. These movable fire pits are also meant to be used over non-burnable surfaces, so on concrete or gravel or dirt. They aren't meant to be used on a wooden porch or inside. When I first opened the fire pit package, my impression was of a beautiful design and solid materials that would last. Everything you need to assemble the fire bowl (including the tools) were included. The only real assembly was to screw the handle into the fireguard and to screw the two base legs together to form an X. The base held together pretty well even without the screw and was not wobbly until the screw was tightened. I left the screw as snug but not extremely tight and the wobble was minimal on a flat surface and unnoticeable on an uneven surface. You place the bowl on the base. The bowl's outside rim edge curves down to form a ridge that holds the bowl in place. The bowl might shift slightly if bumped or the whole assembly might skid sideways, but it's unlikely the bowl will come off the base unless lifted. The bowl is light enough that a woman or teenager can easily lift and move it for storage or removing ash.The fire bowl's bottom is several inches above the X of the base's legs. According to the directions, the bowl is not secured to the legs (nor does there appear any need for this). There are also 5 holes along the bottom of the bowl to allow better air flow. Very little ash falls through these holes even if you're stirring the fire or removing the ash. Even a soft breeze creates an air flow through the bowl that keeps the fire burning hot and fast which creates a pile of hot coals. These coals keep burning hot for several hours. I've found the bowl good for quickly burning up small wood (2" or less diameter wood) and for cooking. I haven't tried thicker wood yet.Overall, it looks like a lot of thought went into this design to make it usable and beautiful.Update 3/25/16: I'm still using this fire pit multiple times each year. I've not had much luck grilling hamburgers on it due to ash getting onto the food, but I still haven't tried using commercial coals, which I think would work. I've mainly used the pit to burn wood from pruning my fruit trees, and I can do campfire cooking over it if I burn enough wood to get a hot pile of coals going. Due to the venting holes in the bottom, the fire pit burns wood extremely well, even green or wet wood, and it burns the wood to complete ash. I can then use that ash in my gardening. The mesh dome and the bowl have not warped from the fires, but the sideways edging on the bowl has due to the intense heat. But this is a "prettiness" issue; the fire pit still fits together perfectly. Overall, I'm very happy with the fire pit, and I especially like how easy it is to move around.
