This camera is truly awful!I would go as far as to say the worst of my 3 different cameras as well as the others I have been associated with.The problem is that mine just does not meet the claimed specification (and it has been replaced 3 times).I installed it in December 2018 SOME 5 MONTHS AGO and have tried every permutation of the app settings, (sensitivity, motion mask, software detection options, infra-red detection options, various video settings, etc, etc).It sends false alerts and recordings for everything, you name it….people, animals, the sun, the wind, light changes, birds singing, etc, etc.So any visitor alerts are simply lost in the noise.The motion mask settings simply do not work!Connection to the camera is hit and miss on a 4G mobile network, so you just cannot interact with its settings, or people at the door unless you are at home on Wi-Fi.One day I received over 35 false alerts to my phone. It woke me up early in the morning and kept alerting all through the day. As a result I have now had to permanently turn off all alerts so am ‘running blind’ as far as this individual camera is concerned!I did seek technical advice from Smartwares on this and they were very helpful.The problem is that even they couldn't fix a product that simply DOES NOT DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN!

I have had this running for a couple of years now, and it's been great so far. I needed to run some power to the door anyway, so I wired it in via ethernet. Of the four pairs in a normal ethernet cable, two are used by this for data and two are spare, so I hooked one of those spare pairs up to the power adapter, giving it power plus data over a single ethernet cable.Because Byron also make ordinary doorbells, I purchased one of their 'dumb' bell kits and paired this with the plug-in ringer. This means I have an in-house ringer in addition to being notified on my phone when the doorbell rings.It has proven especially useful being notified on my phone during COVID for deliveries, since I have been working at the end of the garden in a cabin, and otherwise would not hear the doorbell ring. The two-way communication also works well if I am not at home, and have used this to ask delivery drivers to leave a parcel in a safe spot.Minor downsides:* The motion sensing feature is mostly useless; lots of false positive notifications, so I just disabled these. I have a couple of wired CCTV cameras at the door anyway, which record 24/7, so it was surplus to my requirements.* It no longer supports dropbox for internet backup, however it does still support Google Drive, although the interface can sometimes freeze up, requiring a reset of the doorbell for it to start uploading again.

installation guide didn't contain information on wired setup, had to contact the customer support team to get a pdf.application setup wasn't intuitive, even though i work in the tech.for a reason I'm yet to figure, is stops working, no chime, no notification. i have to power cycle to get it to work again.uploading to cloud storage stopped working few months after installation, early 2021, tech support claimed that there is a bug and will be fixed soon. 2 years later contacted again to be told the upload feature is supported anymore.Video quality is good. Sound on the phone is ok but on the bell itself terrible.I've turned off motion detection add it was very sensitive.Overall, it provides good value for money for a doorbell that provides live stream and some SD storage.

Much like many other of the wifi doorbells available on the market, this just doesn't perform the way it says it will. I have given it a second star as the build quality is bang on, its a nice piece of kit (if not a bit larger than expecting)Functionally however it is not up to the task. i set it up on my desk first right next to my router. set up fine first time, go to press the button to test ring, no notification...... not a good start. Also if your router is any further than a few meters away from your door then there is no chance of connecting. once i had installed the item it would not connect. waste of an hour of my life messing with this thing. i will be returning this and trying a different product

I bought this viser doorbell because Byron generally produce good quality products. However, I regret buying this video doorbell. After a lengthy installation process - frustratingly short power cable and miniature wiring connections - I managed to get the device up and running. Our modem and router were only a few metres away so I managed to achieve a WiFi connection. However, whenever someone rang the bell, the delay was so bad that they often left before I could connect and speak. That aside, the bell completely stopped working after only three months! It still has power (it clicks when you move your hand in front of it), but it won’t connect to our network and the blue light on the bell press no longer lights up. I’ve contacted Smartwares customer service but they were unhelpful (telling me to replace the battery - this model is mains powered!!!). Then they stopped responding to my emails. I’d like to return it and get a refund. Totally useless product. Buyer beware.
