Allows your M1 MacBook to use 2 external monitors
My wife and I both had M1 MacBook Pros. I upgraded mine to the M1 Pro for several reasons but the main one was to get dual monitor support. I bought this Targus dock to add the dual monitor support that my previous port replicator did not have. Imagine my surprise went after getting it to work perfectly for my machine, it also allowed my wife’s M1 Mac to support the same dual 4K monitors. It works beautifully for my M1 Pro machine, and we have the added bonus of her being able to her video editing on dual monitors now. Very pleased with it. Please note that you do need to install the DisplayPort drivers for this to work otherwise it won’t recognize the dock.

Works out of the box
Works flawlessly so far. It would be great to have a few more USB ports (never enough), but this little box already has these cables plugged in:- USB-C cable to a laptop: Lenovo Yoga L13, 3-rd generation- BT adapter for wireless mouse, USB-A- USB-A keyboard- two DisplayPort cables (1 for 4k DELL made within past 2 years, 1 for a 10-year old 1920x1080p Dell) - both monitors run at their native 4k and 1080p resolutions at 60Hz- gigabit ethernet cable- USB-A cable from USB hub in the 4k DELL monitor- USB-A cable from recent model of Logitech BRIO webcam with Windows Hello supportAND it still has one more USB-C port left open. Very happy so far.Did not test: real network speeds, any other laptop, headphones port

Took off 1 star for price, doesn’t fully support dual hdmi, and not 100% plug and play
This docking station works great if your using it with the DP display connectors. Even after downloading and installing drivers for the docking station, using more than 1 hdmi connection would not work on a dell 5300 2 in 1 laptop. Does a great job with providing power and all USB ports are working. I am not using it for audio so I cannot comment there.

Very Impressed - Also M1 MacBook Air Compatible
I'm really impressed with this dock, given that it's almost 2 years old when I bought it (Dec 2020).I needed a dock that can dual display 1080p monitors for the M1 MacBook Air and it delivers. You just google "displaylink Macbook M1 BigSur" and click the result that takes you to the DisplayLink website. Install it and grant the permissions which the driver walks you through. It worked like a charm and I don't mind the resolution at all as I only use it for work and nothing else. I can now triple screen set up with this dock. x1 Laptop Monitor and x2 1080p monitors. HEADS UP: It glitched out on (I don't know exactly what happened) but I can no longer use the "Clamshell Mode" on the MacBook Air. So that's why I have a triple screen set up now. Not a big deal but just a heads up.An added bonus was I was able to use it on my Dell Inspiron 7573 which only has a USB Type C (not Thunderbolt). Same process with the driver install and it worked perfectly.Definitely a great investment. I little pricey full price IMO but I got mine via Amazon Warehouse and it was in great condition.

Linux support inconsistent
I've had this dock for a couple years now, and it's been a consistent love/hate relationship with it. The convenience of a single cable to both charge and provide port-expansion is fantastic, this dock's reliance on DisplayLink for functionality is not.I run Linux as my primary OS, and DisplayLink support on Linux has been lackluster at best (although it has improved within the last few months). Just about every kernel update causes a major failure in evdi/displaylink, which almost invariably results in either a partial or total loss of usability. Sometimes these breaks last for several weeks or longer before there's a response from the evdi/displaylink team. There's also the secondary issue of poor video performance when using external monitors on a laptop with the primary display off, while running off of integrated graphics. Display output on the external monitor remains fine, until the built-in primary display is either disabled or shut off, at which point frame rates drop to single digits at best. This essentially prevents certain linux configurations from using a laptop in clamshell. As a linux user, it's hard to label these docks as "acceptable" and justify their purchase, especially considering their price point and the frequency with which they can't be used. This is one tech purchase that I do regret, even moreso when looking at the poor resale value these docks (especially this model specifically) have.
