Q: Why is this food available without a prescription? What makes this different than prescription urinary foods?

Our cat with a vet prescription for Hill's and Royal Canine Prescription is still Very much alive and super healthy with the Iams UT health dry food. We also supplement with Purina UT health wet food All non prescription and he's been totally healthier for a longer period than any of the prescription foods. With the Hill's prescription we were heading to the vet every couple months with a stones emergency. With this it's been never. You wanna tell me vets and marketing know best sometimes?

Q: Can someone tell me if this is the same size as other iams products? my cats are currently on science diet but pieces are larger than they prefer.

The science diet is larger than the Iams. Iams is your typical kibble size and would post a side by side if I could. I buy both and probably why Amazon asked me to answer this question according to my purchases.

Q: Anyone been prescribed royal canin urinary so? $45./7.7lbs. will the iams substitute? i notice that the rc. has ‘salt’listed in ingredients. not iams

I was buying the Royal Canin urinary dry food for years and it seemed each time I went to buy a bag, the price went up. It was close to $70 for the last bag I purchased. I researched the ingredients and rc has a lot of junk ingredients, which is maddening for what they are charging for it. The Iams food has the same active ingredient and less junk. It still has some junk....... In fact, I think rc changed their formula making the active ingredient a lot lower on the ingredient list. I made the switch to this and haven't had problems with my two cats. One of my cats is 12 and I've noticed he seems to struggle a little to chew this, so the pieces might be harder than the rc I'm guessing, but he manages and both of my cats seem to like this and they can be finicky. I think this is a better choice than rc for many reasons

Q: Where is the lot number and expiration date printedon the bag? I just got a 7 lb bag that looks like it was opened and re-sealed, with no info on it!

We stamp the batch code with "Best By" date near the top of the bag. Typically it's on the front but, on the rare occasion, it could be on the back.
