On the run from bullies at school, Eustace and his friend Jill suddenly find themselves in the enchanted land of Narnia. Prince Rilian, son of the old and frail King Caspian, has disappeared mysteriously and Eustace and Jill are called upon to help. Aslan, the Great Lion king, sends the children on a quest through treacherous lands of witches and giants to locate Prince Rilian, heir to the Narnia throne, and bring him home. The Emerald Witch who rules the underworld will ensure that this is no easy feat.

Don't miss this part of the Chronicles
Love this fantasy, whether reading the stories or watching the movies. The strength in each main character of the entire Chronicles encourages the reader/viewer to emulate facing challenges.

Nothing like the 1st 3.
Horrible, stupid and just don't buy it are what comes to mind. My DVD is in English but the quality of the movie made it hard to watch and there's no closed caption.I wouldn't have purchased this if I had it to do over. The story was Narnia but that's not necessarily a positive thing because the story seemed dumb. It reminded me of Jack and the bean stalk with little people and giants. It seemed more like a play not a movie. The DVD works fine and the case is good too. Not that it matters. I won't be watching it anymore.

I am interested in the story any wanted towatch it the other day
I am interested in the story any wanted to watch it the other day, but found it has a region code that doesn't play in the US. I'm sorry I wasn't apprised of that when I ordered the DVD. Fortunately it plays on a computer that has the capability of changing regional code. I am enjoying the story; had hoped it was part of the newer series released through the theaters, but it goes with the older series I have previously acquired.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair
All of these stories by C. S. Lewis are worth the read and are an illustrative, imaginative retelling of the Christian story for children. This specific DVD version is the older, BBC telling from the 1970s so it's dated in its graphics, scenery, and scenery display. However, the portrayal of Puddleglum by Tom Baker is a treasure!

“I’m a marsh wiggle!” [Puddleglum] -[BBC Childrens Classic, 1990 version]
This 1990 Tv miniseries was the third and final segment of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ Tv series that ran from 1988 to 1990. When Jill Pole [Camilla Power] flees her school bullies, she is taken through a doorway to Narnia by her friend Eustace Scrubb [David Thwaites]. Once there they are given a quest by Aslan the Talking Lion and instructed to find Prince Rilian, son of the dying King Caspian, by following four signs that will be revealed to them. This is the next in the series after ‘The Dawn Treader’ and tends to follow the book quite well, but if you only know the trilogy from 2005-10, then this may not please. Filmed in 4:3 Tv format, it is separated into 6 half hour episodes and is typical childrens BBC of the time, being very theatrical in a stage-play manner, while the special effects are basic, even for the time [lose a *]. It’s also a lot more serious than the later ‘films’, being much darker in that Aslan is not the cuddly lovable lion, but more sinister, like a gruff Professor or teacher and there’s plenty of screaming! The obvious limited budget gives this a realistic edge as they travel the northern wastes of Narnia and the costumes are convincing, the creatures less so.The single disc loads to a main menu offering play, episodes [all 6 as separate episodes], photo gallery and subtitles [on/off].Although a universal rating, Puddleglum seems to use the F bomb in his drunk scene [ep 4] but it is somewhat indistinct, otherwise there is little to offend here. Young children will love this, but it’s probably dated for teens and older unless you are a fan of the books.

I still enjoy reading the books and watching the Lion
I absolutely adore the earlier Chronicles but this one didn't grab me at all. Such a shame because I know the stories are superb and in a way much more exciting than the endless battles in the Lord of the Rings and even Hobbit (times 3!!!!). Ah well. I still enjoy reading the books and watching the Lion, Witch & Wardrobe, Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Prince Caspian. All excellent.

the production is quite lame and it doesn't fare well against the Narnia films ...
Have watched the whole thing already. Considering it was made in 1990, the production is quite lame and it doesn't fare well against the Narnia films of the last 8 years.

good quality disks at a good price
good quality disks at a good price. They complete our trilogy of the Chronicles of Narnia. Though a CBBC production, they have done their best withe CG effects, though they are not a patch on the slick film series. But good entertainment. Thank you.
