DO NOT BUY THIS!
DO NOT BUY THIS! Unless you're only going to use it as a monitor on a living room media server. The video lag is so delayed that it is completely and totally unusable as a desktop PC monitor. Your mouse on the screen is way way behind where your computer has registered your mouse movement. You will constantly be missing the things you're trying to click on. The monitor delays the video by 100ms. You might think that seems acceptable until you actually use it. It's just not possible to use your PC with a mouse, and don't even THINK of trying to play games with it. I sent it back after a day or two. I thought there was a setting somewhere that I could set to fix it, but after finding the Dell forums, everyone's complaining about the same thing and Dell's canned response is (paraphrased), "The design of this monitor has a 100ms delay. There are no settings to adjust to change this. Return your monitor for a refund if this is not acceptable." DONE!

This is a brilliant external monitor for people who have loads of browser tabs/windows, or lots of concurrent programs open. Because it runs at only 30Mhz refresh rate irrespective of resolution, there is definitely a lag when moving a mouse around on it, and its not suitable for gaming. However, the colors are great, text at either full resolution (3840x2160) or at a reduced (2048x1152) is crisp and readable. So, I use it as an externl monitor, with my Windows 7 desktop extended. I drag my non-primary windows to it and "dock" them there. I can move to the windows and work on them there, which means I avoid the screen lag with the mouse. So, its a perfect developer monitor, also usable for fullscreen youtube videos and such while remaining working o my Dell M3800 Laptop screen for my primary apps.If you are driving from a laptop, in my case I *HAVE* to use the DisplayPort to get the full 3840x2160 resolution. I have a USB3 port, and a USB3 dock with both HDMI and SVGA ports on it. Using the dock, even with the displayport software will not drive the monitor at full resolution through HDMI or SVGA.

Outstanding for the price.
It's hard to recognize the monitor I have on my desk from most of the reviews posted here.At the price, it's unbeatable for a 4K quality monitor. At work I have a dozen displaysin FHD to 4K resolutions, all 5-15x more expensive than this one, from Dell, Samsung,Phillips, and others; some are clearly better in terms of contrast and color gamut andmany have better calibration, but the difference is rarely huge.As to the reviews: I see no lag with the mouse, the text is not washed out, the colorsare very good (although they could stand a better calibration), the contrast is pretty goodfor a computer monitor (I am not using this to watch movies -- for that I use a projectorin a dark room), the viewing angles are normal. The color gamut could be better, but that'swhat Dell has a its (significantly more expensive) U series for and, in any case, color gamutin a.desktop machine is not my first concern. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is that it seems unduly sensitive to heat. We've had temps around 90-94 every day for the last week and the screenhas shut down a few times because of overheating.Should be no problem in an air-conditioned room.

Beautiful pixels but terrible input lag
We tried two of the Dell P2815Q monitors in our engineering office. One in Software development, and the other in Mechanical Engineering where they use AutoDesk Inventor for 3D design work. While both guys were excited at first, after a couple of days, they said the P2815Q drove them crazy and were asking for their old monitors back.We really wanted to like this monitor but the input lag makes it unusable. The plethora of pixels were supposed to increase productivity but the input lag simply slows the user down. There is about a half second delay between what the computer sends and the monitor displays. That doesn't sound like much but it is enough to make operating the mouse cumbersome. The problem IS NOT the graphics card of the computer. The problem IS NOT the mouse driver or mouse settings. The problem IS NOT because the monitor is displaying 4k at 30HZ. We tested the monitor on high-end Engineering Workstations with $1000 graphics cards as well as the latest Macbook Pro that supports 4k displays. Even when the monitor received 1080p at 60hz, the same lag is still there. The input lag is very pronounced when the user drags a window between two monitors. It can be seen how the picture update on the Dell P2815Q is about a half second behind the other monitor.Regarding the picture, this monitor has tons of pixels, is super sharp, and has a good enough picture. It is a little washed out, but if you aren't doing professional photo and video work, it just doesn't matter. If you want to use the P2815Q with a Macbook Pro with a retina display, you will need Mac OSX10.9.3 or later, which provides nice display scaling features. At the time this review was written, 10.9.3 could be obtained from Apple as beta. Also, be aware that in Windows 7, when custom font scaling is applied at the 4k resolution, some applications, including AutoDesk's Inventor, have some scrambled dialogue boxes. In conclusion, if you are using this as a second monitor, that is not your primary workspace, this monitor may be ok for you. But if it is your primary workspace, wait for this 4k technology to mature a little more before making the plunge.Sadly, we have sent the monitors back for a refund.
